95 EGR Problemsamahi72 01-18-2008, 06:39 PM My EGR valve just went bad. I can't believe they cost from 141.00 to 179.00!!! Does anybody know if you can just clean it and then reinstall it??? Thanks MT-2500 01-18-2008, 07:04 PM Depends on what went bad. What code did you get. What is it doing or not doing? Some will pick up a carbon ball under the plunger. And can be cleaned for that problem. What engine? samahi72 01-18-2008, 08:53 PM Depends on what went bad. What code did you get. What is it doing or not doing? Some will pick up a carbon ball under the plunger. And can be cleaned for that problem. What engine? I don't know what the code was. I took it to autozone and checkers and they couldn't pull any codes, they said it took a special reader to pull the code, so I took it to a repair shop and they said it coded as a bad egr. It has the 4.3 and it would act like a severe vacuum defiency. Rough idle, and the power brake did not have any vacuum to operate the brakes. Almost had to stand on the brake to get it to stop. I am hoping that it will be a carbon ball and save me 150.00. 2percent 01-19-2008, 12:12 PM You can clean it with carb cleaner and a toothbrush but go with the Kleen screen gasket cause usually itll clog up again soon after if not vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
