On a 2004 Town & Country. How do I change the light bulb in the front overhead consule reading light?

Thanks for your help.

If nobody fesses up the info, your local library may have the maintenance manual. It will be a Haynes, Chiltons or Mitchells manual. If they don't have one they cost $20 at most auto parts stores. I've seen them at WalMart. If you keep the van a few years it will pay for itself many times over even if you're not a DIYer.

Figured it out!

Went to two dealers and ask for assistance. Neither knew how to remove the lense. Neither had the bulb either. Checked with local NAPA who had the bulb but did not know how to get the lense out or if the overhead console had to be removed.

Here is how the thing works. The lens is hinged at the rear. The light is turned on by pushing the front end which activates a switch in the light housing. There is a long tab on the front which prevents the lense from dropping down. Do not pry on the front as the tab is too long to be disengaged. The lense is disengaged from the hinge pins that are part of the housing. From the sides at the hinge point gently pry down on the lense which will pop off the hinge pins. The "C" shaped female part of the hinge is part of the lense. Once the freed from the hinge pins the lense drops down at the rear allowing the lense to be drawn back thereby freeing the tab at the front. Installation is the reverse.

Hope this helps others. A short description and flic in the owner's manual would have saved me a ton of time and dinking around.

Chrysler would loose money if they did that. They count on people scratching their heads, getting frustrated, and bringing it to them to fix. Glad to see you avoided that trap. Thanks for the info.
