83' 944 NA 96,000

So I just got the timing belt, balance belt, water pump, thermostat, front seals replaced on my car. I picked it up last night and on the way home it ran hot, Also, around 3,500-4,000 RPM's it gets really loud and it also whines at low rpm's. Sounds like a supercharger but not as loud. I called the mechanic last night and he said to bring it in today. DId this guy really mess something up? I usually owrk on my own stuff but got this done "proffesionally" to put the liability on someone else in case I did something wrong. This guy said he had all the "special tools" to do the job right. What could he have done wrong? There's a new themostat (didn't check it to see if it worked) and waterpump, what would cause it to run hot? Improper tension on the water pump causing it to slip? I got the complete kit from 944 online and he said he's never had anyhting sent back on the kit, what do you guys think? I got a great price on the labor, the guy thought it was an 87 which requires 5 hours labor for the whole job, that's what he quoted me for so that's what I paid him for. The 83' requires 10 hours of labor for seals and belts. Sounds like he maybe tried to rush it since he was only getting paid for 5 hours labor?

Don't know why it's overheating if it wasn't before. Could be faulty thermostat. It would get hot fast and stay hot if it was a faulty thermostat. The balance belt is too tight if it sounds like a low supercharger. The balance belt should be a little less than twice as loose as the timing belt since it spins twice as fast. Let us know how it turns out.
