First a big hello to everyone here! I've been browsing this forum for a few months now and I am continuously amazed by some of the work done here!

I recently decided to get back in to modelling and bought myself the Honda VFR750 RC30 kit by Tamiya. I used to make planes when I was a kid and made the odd car, but never made a bike, which was odd considering I was brought up around bikes.

The build is going quite well, it's slowly getting there and so far I don't think it's too bad for a first build.

The problem I'm having at the moment is finding the right colours for the bodywork in a spray can form. This kit is quite old and the only colour codes it gives are the Acrylic pot paint codes. The results will be a lot better if it is sprayed so I really want to get the same colours but in a spray can; i'll be spraying from the can.

Does anyone know what the equivalent spray paint codes are for X2 White, X3 Royal Blue, and X4 Blue?

X2 is RAL9010

RAL codes are on most of the spray cans.

Will those codes be available when looking for the spray paints online? Or only on the can itself?

Meanwhile here's some pics of the build so far, i'm almost embarassed to post these up having seen some of the amazing work done by people on here, but never the less. It's my first kit so be kind. :frown: These were taken a few months ago; I haven't had time recently but I shall be doing some more to it sometime soon, i'm going to set aside a whole day just for it. The only thing that really bugs me is the exhaust, it looks crap, unfortunatly I only discovered the Tamiya weathering kits after I painted it and fitted it, but next time i'll try it. I guess this kit is a learning experience anyway. Oh yeah, right after these pics were taken I discovered modelling putty!

I can't seem to find any information online on those RAL codes. :frown:

No those are universal paint codes (for example Dupli color use those codes).

Tamiya spray codes are

TS-26 for white
TS-15 for blue
TS-55 for darker blue

Bike looks good to me being your first attempt. Try washing it a bit for more realism, use enamel black paint heavily thinned.

Hello, I agree about the bike trying some washes. Also open up the end can of the exhaust. It will look better.

I'm not heading for absolute perfection, I just enjoy the process of doing it really. Hopefully i'll improve with each model I make. :)

Hopefully what I have done so far will look a lot better once i've tried washing various parts. Nice to know there are still some people out there who appreciate such a fine bike, whether in its 400 or 750cc form!

Does anyone know anywhere at all where I'll be able to get hold of the TS-26 and TS-15 Tamiya Spray Paints? I've managed to get TS-55 from ebay but after talking to the seller, he said that they might not be back in stock till April/May time so for the mean time all he's selling is what he's got left of his stock. :(

Can't really progress much further with the model until I get the spray paints, in particular TS-26 white so I can at least do the wheels and the front mud guard. :(

I'm based in the UK, I looked on hiroboy but the only spray paint they're stocking from Tamiya is the Lime Green for the new Kawasaki model. Looks like i'll have to wait it out till April/May. :(
