Now, officially today I am taking it a step further and separating mine and his car once and for all and going above and beyond his build.....hehee... I am just going to leave it at that for you guys. It requires welding in the engine bay now. Kbrickman 01-19-2008, 05:47 PM Beautiful Cars. My names Kris. Im probably the newest person to these forums but i love the help, kudos to everyone. I turned 16 in october, took out a 3600 dollar loan in late october, and took that loan along with the 2 grand in the bank and bought myself this piece of heaven http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3351/dscf9984xf5.jpg (http://imageshack.us) Nearly 3 weeks after i got it, i decided to play =P http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8760/dscf9978qu2.jpg (http://imageshack.us) I dont have any fancy themed interiors, or know how to drop an engine... yet. Someday though. Oh and this is me (probably about a 7 month old picture actually, but ive jsut realized i have little to no pictures of myself) http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/2687/trytb0.jpg (http://imageshack.us) JStumpalump150 01-19-2008, 10:41 PM heres my ride.... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/JStumpalump150/IMG_1341.jpg my green led lit guages which i copied from cody http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/JStumpalump150/IMG_1174.jpg green interior i copied the idea from derk... my favorite part of this picture is the crappy photoshop job i did to cover up the ex with my new girl friend, lmao http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/JStumpalump150/IMG_1214R.jpg projectors with halos also copied from derk http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/JStumpalump150/IMG_1176.jpg and this is me... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/JStumpalump150/0106081335a.jpg Classicrocjunkie 01-19-2008, 11:25 PM For some odd reason, The stupid popin' my collar song is stuck in my head. ;) .. Just pokin fun at ya bro. No harm intended. I go to college at a school where all the long islanders come here and you can pick them out by their pop'd collars and looking like the guy from the youtube video ' My new hair cut '. Not everyone has all the same automotive knowhow at the same time. I didn't know jack when i was 16. My ex's g/f dad helped me with my first break job, then i lowered my car on my own.... and now at 21.5 yrs old i am doing full out motor swaps which require the whole car being torn down to the shell, fabbing turbo manifolds, and learning out to tig and mig weld. I have to learn this becuase my new mod requires it. Muhahaha. Lookin good everyone! I mean that in a non-homosexual manner of course. JStumpalump150 01-20-2008, 12:39 AM HA HA... i never pop my collar but i was messing with my new phone and did it. lol but anyways, when i first came on here i had just turned 16 and had my cavy for a few months and knew almost nothing about them, im almost 18 now and have leaned a crap load since then mainly from being on here. almost everything i have done to my car has been inspired by what people have done on here, like my interior, headlights, and led cluster. if i ever had any questions i just posted on here and got them answered fairly quick. you will pick up on stuff quick and find yourself not wanting to stop modding your car. lol yhandor 01-20-2008, 02:12 AM LOL CODY, you've seen my new haircut? That video is fucking hilarious. JAGERBOMBS :D Kbrickman 01-20-2008, 09:48 AM =P yeah im pretty sure ive already got the "what next" disease. I have already learned alot here though. Nothing crazy but its a start. Itd be nice to have a family member or friend that did this type of work though, that'd be a nice open door. Derk_eliso 02-23-2008, 05:18 AM Cuz yous a skank!... skank!..... sorry i haven't been around lately, just got an email saying someone posted a comment about my vid i made about my car on youtube and then I saw some comments from u guys and I wanted to pop down to see what was up? oh and sorry for bringing this back from the dead but its pics and everyone loves pics... oh and everyone does love to copy me so feel free lol.... I was actually thinking about selling my car and buying a 4 dr more reliable car since I have a family now I think the modding stage is over for me lol... ZenithZ24 02-23-2008, 09:12 AM Well, since Derk already brought this back from the dead I might as well update, If you didn't already realize, I'm very excited about my new car :runaround: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v28/areyousad/100_1869.jpg DeadBlade89 02-24-2008, 12:47 AM ehh, the thread wasnt dead, it just began digging its grave. kezia 02-24-2008, 06:00 PM I have to say, I'm pretty jealous of everyone's cars :( I'm dying to re-do my interior as well as a few other things but most of it is waay expensive. College + bills suck ass. Awesome cars though. I'll post a pic of mine when i decide to be unlazy and take a pic. Classicrocjunkie 02-24-2008, 10:36 PM I have to say, I'm pretty jealous of everyone's cars :( I'm dying to re-do my interior as well as a few other things but most of it is waay expensive. College + bills suck ass. Awesome cars though. I'll post a pic of mine when i decide to be unlazy and take a pic. Ha ha, i know about the college thing. I'm stuck at mine right now. My problem is, i get piles of parts to install and then it takes me forever to catch up and install them all... kezia 02-24-2008, 10:46 PM My main problem is that i try to figure out how to do everything myself and then i get half way through it and get totally confused about what to do next. not to mention i spend more money on shopping... the downfall to being female =\ ZenithZ24 02-24-2008, 11:17 PM My college bills come up this October... Plus a monthly car payment... Plus Insurance payment sky rocketing... Plus my need to buy aftermarket parts... And most importantly all the money I spend on Taco Bell... Thank you for the employment Wal-Mart :grinyes: So tomorrow I'm polishing up my Ecotec cover and installing my Shift-Plus, I'm pretty excited! millrtime 02-25-2008, 12:33 AM yea i hear the taco bell thing. to bad the one right off campus burnt down...so now i have to drive 3 minutes to the next closest one. i would post some pictures up here, but im sure everyone knows what a base model cavy looks like. school is to expensive to put anything more gas and oil into a cavy. i guess i could post some pictures of my new heater that squeaks like a bitch. kezia 02-25-2008, 12:40 AM im sure everyone knows what a base model cavy looks like. school is to expensive to put anything more gas and oil into a cavy. haha sounds about right. i feel ya there trust me. i don't get how you guys eat at taco bell. my heat in my cavi doesn't even work anymore. then again, who needs heat in florida? Classicrocjunkie 02-25-2008, 12:44 AM Another female cavy owner... Welcome welcome. Everyone, don't fell intimidated to post pictures of your car. I think i've been here the longest tho out of all the boys... :frown: ZenithZ24 03-05-2008, 10:40 PM My Z24 vert was purchased by a female. kezia 03-05-2008, 11:13 PM My Z24 vert was purchased by a female. That's because us females (well some of us) are badass :) I haven't even had time to touch my car though :( I've been getting my ass kicked hardcore style from school and work. full time in both suuuucks ass. Classicrocjunkie 03-07-2008, 08:37 PM Host the picture somewhere. www.imageshack.us is what i normally use. Right click the photo and hit properties then highlight the url/ address whatever one ends with just .jpg. Come back here and where you type your replies there is a little yellow box that suppose to look like a picture. Click it and paste the link into that. SHould be somehting like URL with no spaces between. I'm from up north and god i miss it. My family is from NY and NJ so it'd be nothing new to me :) I'll be back up probably in June anyway. kezia 03-13-2008, 10:45 PM So I decided to finally take a pic of the beginning of my interior. I noticed after I put everything back on that i missed a few spots >.< so I'll be redoing the rest this weekend probably. But since I'm just starting if you have suggestions or criticism please lemme know :) http://localhostr.com/files/14dd0e/IMG_6212.JPG and the most sane picture i have of myself since i'm lazy and it's kinda hard taking a pic of yourself with a bulky dslr http://localhostr.com/files/546604/derr.jpg aimforcody 03-13-2008, 11:16 PM Hey guys/girls, names cody, just joined liek yesturday, and im already getting alot of help, im 18 livin in NY, i enver relaly have time for my car after our old house burned helping out my parents has been the focus of all my money =PP not to mention i can't do my interior [painting it] cuase its SO COLD the damn paint won't stick =P but here you go this is my starter, i am having trouble deciding on interior colors, i dont'w ant anything normal, iw as thinking of an orange black combo and doing the outside obviously oragne but im deffinatly open to ideas, andd how do you get your gauges to "change color" haha im such a n00b http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/wolfmn/PICT3098.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/wolfmn/PICT3091.jpg and of course me, [croped it cause it was hugeee] concert kinda messed up my hawk haha http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/wolfmn/Picture003-1.jpg kezia 03-13-2008, 11:37 PM what do you mean by gauges changing color? do you mean the white ones? aimforcody 03-13-2008, 11:41 PM no like this =] and can you use different colors heres my ride.... my green led lit guages which i copied from cody http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f268/JStumpalump150/IMG_1174.jpg aimforcody 03-14-2008, 12:08 AM btw im sry about my horrible typing Classicrocjunkie 03-14-2008, 12:26 AM Uh oh, there is 2 of us on here now. As for changing the dash lights, it can be done 95-05, but the 00-05, you have to have someone with some skill do them as it requires the unit to be disassembled. The 95-99 have 4 1/4" sockets you can buy from the parts store and replace them with colored LEDS. I used a 5-wled style 194 bulb in my gauge cluster and the same for all my autometer gauges before i decided to do the eco 5-speed swap. http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3979/20070717image0002eh3.jpg http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/6778/20070617image0009rp6.jpg I'm not going to lie, i really miss my cavalier. The sunfire is just a temporary band-aid to cure my broken heart from it. Kezia- you look just like one of my best friends. I had to do a double take of you at first. Lol Classicrocjunkie 03-14-2008, 12:33 AM and your from NY also... what an odd coincidence. :p aimforcody 03-14-2008, 01:30 AM haha thanks for letting me know how to do it, i might see about getting some orange to match the 2 tone coloring im gonna do, and i live in the lower parts of NY, idk if you do too but that would be wicked cool/weird =P and i notice you have all these extra gauge, what exactly do they read? and what kind of new radio would you suggest, to replace the stock one? i really don't want to get one then find out it sticks out a half a mile or something =P aimforcody 03-14-2008, 01:33 AM oh and another quick question, do you just replace the bulb thats already in the cluster or do i have to make new slots and shit Classicrocjunkie 03-14-2008, 02:37 AM Thats my old interior setup during last summer. This is my interior as of right now.... An ecotec motor swap pre-oo is a bastard child. Requires whole car to be re-wired to newer class 2 wiring system. http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6675/20080112image0001rh9.jpg As for gauges i had the following.. Narrow band a/f gauge Oil pressure Volts Tachometer Boost/ vacuum My house is actually, 15mins north of Syracuse, NY. But i attend college at SUNY Cortland, and travel to SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Delhi often to see friends. I know a little bit of the southern tier. As for decks, you can pretty much get whatever you want since you don't have the 00+ wiring issue with loosing the door chimes and alarms. You can pretty much fit anything in the slot too, if it doesn't fit, get a dremel and cut the back plate. It doesn't affect anything. I had a pioneer DEH-6500 in mine, which is sitting in its boxed all wired up for plug n play and for sale if you wanted a deck all ready to go. Comes with remote, face plate carrying case, and everything pre-wired up. $100. kezia 03-14-2008, 09:38 AM my brother lives outside of syracuse (i think) i've never been to where he lives, but i think it's elmira? what's your best friend's name? i grew up with a kid named cody so that's kinda funny. but about the paint, whatcha think kid? :) Classicrocjunkie 03-14-2008, 11:11 AM I've personally never been a fan of brightly painted interiors. Something more neutral like turning the charcoal color to black it what i would personally do myself. At home depot they sell a black textured painted. I actually used that on my gauge bezel surround i fiberglassed along with my A-pillar gauge holder. Here is a better paint/ color pic than the one above. http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8181/20070605image0002uz1.jpg My friends name is Christina. Elmira is closer to Binghamton and PA, rather than Syracuse. Syracuse its smack dead in the center of the state. aimforcody 03-14-2008, 04:28 PM ohh no i don't eman liek a bright orange i mena more of a like orange with some red and blacker tones than a normal orange kezia 03-14-2008, 10:01 PM that's actually really similar to what i'm doing. only i think i'm going to do the vents white or red as well and everything else black. i don't want to go too crazy because i know i'll end up getting sick of it... i get bored too easily. but when i do the dash, how long should i expect it to take? i'm not really going for the high gloss look so i won't be going crazy with sanding. i just want everything to match. ZenithZ24 03-14-2008, 10:31 PM I was never crazy about brightly colored interiors either. Though I'm still debating whether or not to add some white details to my dash or not. Not sure how it would turn out so for now I'm not putting any time into it. Classicrocjunkie 03-14-2008, 11:05 PM that's actually really similar to what i'm doing. only i think i'm going to do the vents white or red as well and everything else black. i don't want to go too crazy because i know i'll end up getting sick of it... i get bored too easily. but when i do the dash, how long should i expect it to take? i'm not really going for the high gloss look so i won't be going crazy with sanding. i just want everything to match. The top dash is going to be tricky because its vinyl not plastic. So you need to die it with vinyl dye, not just throw some paint on it. kezia 03-14-2008, 11:11 PM i thought the same thing but then i figured i'd just do some bits and pieces and then the rest black just so it doesn't look too dark. Classicrocjunkie 03-15-2008, 09:56 PM i thought the same thing but then i figured i'd just do some bits and pieces and then the rest black just so it doesn't look too dark. sounds like a good plan to me. yhandor 03-16-2008, 01:05 AM Ahhhhhhhhhh! Did My Signature Work?! I Made One!!! ZenithZ24 03-16-2008, 04:37 PM Ahhhhhhhhhh! Did My Signature Work?! I Made One!!! Yes, It works, Nicely done. kezia 03-17-2008, 09:59 AM I'm way too lazy to open up photoshop and make a sig. that takes time. on a better note though, one of my classes is over so now i have more free time :D DeadBlade89 03-27-2008, 12:22 PM Since we're on the topic, I got a new sig. I can't wait till I buy photoshop again... Classicrocjunkie 03-27-2008, 04:38 PM Pretty. yhandor 04-05-2008, 04:47 AM Also Cody for the top dash, the squisy rubber shit, I sprayed it with Duplicolor Vinvyl and Fabric paint (White) and has never chipped or peeled. Just gets dirty, because its white lol. How do you dye them? I could go grab a spare one from the wreckers and would do it, or whats under if somehow you peel the rubber shit off? Right now im actually working on the interior. Ive got everything but the dash (biggest part i know) painted out, and its looking good. Ive also got a type-j rear, combat sides, and an rksport front valence waiting for paint in the basement. Oh and a megan racing cat-back on the way too. Im pretty excited =D Classicrocjunkie 06-11-2008, 02:55 AM Good start. ZenithZ24 06-28-2008, 10:14 PM Drop-top ftw  ... I miss my Z :disappoin Classicrocjunkie 06-29-2008, 01:17 AM I drove a drop top J at the auto auction on weds, and honestly I don't know if its a vert thing or not... but I don't like all the body flex when I was hitting bumps. I have driven 3 verts all they have had all the same symptoms. I thought i could see the whole front window wiggle when i hit a bump. Don't think I would feel too safe in one of those as I do my hard tops. Tinkles 07-13-2008, 02:06 AM Cody your gay. yhandor 07-13-2008, 06:12 PM Cody is right, no solid roof there for support, so the car has more flex to it ZenithZ24 07-13-2008, 10:54 PM Yes, but did you ever take a look at all the re-enforcing there is on the drop tops? Sure its going to flex a bit more, but honestly I haven't noticed much of a difference from my drop top to my coupe except on cornering. I notice the difference in weight much more comparing a convertible LD9 to a Coupe L61. Classicrocjunkie 07-14-2008, 12:56 AM Cody your gay. don't be jealous kyle.... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
