I have a 2002 Windstar that leaks P/S fluid, and was told that there is a switch that cuts off the A/C compressor when turning in maximum direction, so that all the power goes to the P/S pump. Seems rather odd, but who knows what "new" parts are created these days?? I wondered how difficult this is to repair.

I understand the concept of this switch, but I don't see what it has to do with your leakage. Are you saying that it is leaking at this switch that somehow senses that you are at one of the extremes of the steering rack, which then would turn off the AC so to make more hp available to the ps? Ok. Your on your own. Have you located the leak yet? Sorry, I can't be more helpful.
