You'll need a motor, wiring harnesses, V6 bell housing, axles from a V6, pcm, radiator, etc. Basically everything is completely different. You'll be better off just selling your car and buying an SVT. FWIW, SVT's weigh about 2900-3000 lbs. I4's with a 5 speed should weigh less than that. Not sure where you came up with 4000 lbs. Cant do short throws on the 95-97 contours as they came with a rod shift transmission. Only the 98-00s with the cable shift can use short throws. Mods to do to a V6? Plenty. Check www.contour.org. andrewburnison 01-19-2008, 05:52 PM ok thanks man well cant i just pull my contour motor & get a parts car from my friend who has acouple contours sittin in his junkyard & grab the contour sport motor out? but i would almost get the block machined so i coud do high copression forged pistions & shit but let me know beyondloadedSE 01-20-2008, 11:04 AM ok thanks man well cant i just pull my contour motor & get a parts car from my friend who has acouple contours sittin in his junkyard & grab the contour sport motor out? but i would almost get the block machined so i coud do high copression forged pistions & shit but let me know Yes, its certainly possible but to me it sounds like a lot more work than its worth. Like I said, its a lot more extensive than just pulling out the motor and swapping in a V6. The cars electrical system will need to be completely reran since the wiring harnesses are completely different. Your transmission will not work with a V6 because the bellhousings are different. You'll have to find one with a 5 speed. You would have to completely gut everything in the V6 including the radiator to make it work. Doesnt sound like something even I would want to do, even though Ive done a 3.0L swap in my contour. If it were me, I would just find an svt with a rod knock and swap in a 3.0L. You can find those SVTs for about $2K or less. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
