Have a 1992 Frod Probe that wants to lock in park every so often. Any suggestions of what is wrong & how to fix it?

The brake has to be pressed and the brake lights must work for the tranny to be shifted out of park. If no brake lights check fuse. This is the biggest reason it won't shift out of park. Other reasons are:
1.Shift lock actuator
2. Park Range switch
3. Shift cable in need of adjustment
4. Gearshift lever linkage binding.
Whenever it won't shift out of park hold the brake down and move the steering wheel back and forth, then try to shift out of Park. If it still won't shift out of park take the console out and check the wiring harnesses. Pull the connectors apart and clean with alcohol. Press back together. I don't think it's a bad fuse because then it would never work at all. I'm thinking that you have a bad electrical connection.
