I have this metro with a 1.0L 3 cyl in it. We put a rebuilt head on it,beacuase the cente exhaust valve was burned. After putting it all together we had it running and then one day it would not start. When trying to start it it would start run ok for a breif moment and then quit, when restarting it it has no compression. The plugs are soaked, dried them out put back in and then it would start, but the minute you hit the accelerator it would again flood out.
restard again and no compression left it sit a half hour and it would finally start after cranking awhile. But could not hit the gas until it warmed up real good. I don't know where to start.HELP!

First check the timing and be sure you didn't get the timing belt off a notch.

Timing, timing belt is dead on.

Please explain what you mean by"when restarting it it has no compression". How many miles did you run it after getting it together before this problem started? Have you double checked all the vacuum hose connections? Did you put a new intake manifold gasket on and are you sure ALL the bolts are tight?

Could you list how many miles your metro has on it? Also what make and model your metro is? Thank you.

The post clearly states 98 3cyl which means it's also a manual tranny.

First thing I'd do is check for high fuel pressure or a leaky injector. After that I'd check the primary and secondary resistence of the ignition coil and the resistence of the camshaft position sensor (two wires coming out of the base of the distributor to a white connector). Then I'd check sensor grounds bolted to the back of the intake manifold.

I'm also confused about no compression? Surely you don't mean, you checked it with a gauge and found 0psi in the cylinders... So, check the compression to be sure your head gasket, piston rings and valves are doing their job.

KOEO fuel pressure should read 23-30psi and stay above 13psi for one minute after the fuel pump shuts off (approx. two seconds after the key is turned on).
