350 transmission in 85 el camino

the shift linkage and shift detent cable is different. drive shaft i think is ok and trans body mount is same. should bolt to 305 engine.it will work ask scrap yard for details this [was] is common mod......

You will have to change the crossmember. GM changed the crossmember in 84to utilize the 200r4 which has the mounting pad further back & has the crossmember running directly across from one side of the frame to the other. The 350 crossmember mounts diagonally across the frame. You can find one in a 83 or earlier Elky, Malibu, or Monte, but you will have to drill mounting holes in the frame on the drivers side to accomodate the crossmember.
