Code P0171 on 2002 Venture

01-05-2008, 09:07 PM
I got venture 2002 and just got this code two days ago.

What do I need to check and what do I need to replace to clear this code??
Any idea and all are more than welcome.

running lean is usually a sign of a vacuum leak or an injector not working correctly, or other fuel delivery issue. if it were a vacuum hose, you might also get a p0174(too lean bank 2), but a hose is not ruled out. start with visually checking hoses, remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regualtor(with vehicle off) and see if any fuel comes out. if ANY does, even a small drop, replace regulator and retest. if all vacuum hoses seem to be in good order, take a can of carb/throttle body cleaner and spray around the upper intake, and some vacuum hoses(with engine running). if motor stumbles, leak is around that area. whole point being the engine computers sensors think there is too much air and not enough fuel going through cylinders on bank 1. let us know what you find.
