HID 'ish Look Headlight Bulbs??

Hi peeps.

Been looking at upgrading my headlights to HID but the price of any decent kit just seems to be out of my budget for now. So, as a compromise i have decided to consider going for the replacement headlight bulbs which claim to offer a much whiter, brighter light output over conventional oem halogen headlamp bulbs.

I have heard good reviews on the Osram (AKA Sylvania) Silverstars bulbs. A friend of mine has ordered a set of lower cost bulbs from the shop below. The bulbs he has ordered, the shop claim to be comparable to Osram Silverstar bulbs and seem quite reasonably priced.

So, my question is:

Has anybody here tried these bulbs from this place?

I've had experience with both bulbs.

Silverstars really arn't that much brighter. I noticed I could see slightly better, and had a slightly clearer look, but it was very minimal.

But I am not sure they're worth the money. almost 40 bucks for them... Unless you can find them on ebay for a cheap price, I'd say maybe then.

The Cool Blue ones are my prefernece, they have more of a white blue look to your head lights, and they are definately brighter.

They do to tend to make it hard for other traffic. Nothing like having super bright bulbs blind you. I have noticed though it depends on the car, and the angel of the head lights. When I used the Cool Blue on my 89 Bonniville back in the day my friends said they didn't blind them.

The Cool Blue bulbs will look most like HID. Your head lights are still square and arn't cool round projectors, but I personally like the look of cool blue bulbs...

Hope this helps.

I agree that the Sylvania cool blue are a little better than stock. Back when I first got this car I bought the regular bulbs and they are ok and the typical yellowish tint. When one of them went out about a year ago, I bought two of the cool blue ones and its not a huge light difference just a color difference. It def. looks better as far as the tint but its not gonna be a "night and day" difference with the cool blues.

That's what i have been hearing. The cool blue bulbs that autowirez have on their site are 'E' marked and are fully UK legal so i think i am going to go for them.

For £2.89 a bulb, you can't really go wrong. Even if they do turn out no good, it would exactly break the bank. I have just ordered 3 of them so i can keep a spare in the glove box if one goes on me.

The cool blue bulbs turned up this morning and i have them fitted. I havent had a chance to try them out in the night yet but it has been really dark today and everyone has been going about with their headlights on.

So....

Yeah!! Really impressed. I haven't tried any of the other brands before so i cant compare but i really do notice the difference with these bulbs. Exactly what i was looking for, whiter light. Me chuffed!!

Glad you like them!

I'd like to see how they look on a 240SX, got any pictures of them at dusk/late evening? I may end up buying some myself.
