Does anyone know how to fix a blower that works only on setting 4? I'm sure it's some kind of fuse or module that's gone out, but I can't find any information about where it is or how to get at it.

Thanx in advance!

Your fan motor resister needs to be replaced

Ok, thanx! But where is it in the truck so I can pull it out and get a new one?

If you're still under warranty, take it to the dealership.

It's on the fan motor assembly under the glove box. It's number 1 in the image below. Most cases its just the resistor that needs to be replaced. Pull and inspect the contacts for any burning or melting then replace if necessary.

Ok, thanx!! That's EXACTLY what I needed to know!!

No, it's not still under warranty (out by 6k miles, naturally), but I know where there's a wrecked (tboned in the bed) 2005 Colorado in a junkyard in town...much cheaper there than the dealer! ;)

EDIT: Oh, I just noticed you added the part number and a place to get it...I may just get the resistor from there, I was told it'd be around $200.00 by a guy at work.

$200?????!!!!! WoW lol

Even if you bought all the parts listed above through gmpartsdirect it will only be $50.81 + shipping

It only takes about 30 minutes to R&R all parts.

i had the same problem.
there is an electrical connector underneath the dash, passenger side. the connector may be coming loose. i had to secure mine with a wire tie.

Got a resistor for 11 bucks at the Chevy garage, didn't fix it. Tapped on the motor and it started working on the lower speeds.Wiggled connector enough to get the motor to stay working. Don't know if it's the plug or the connections in the motor itself.

Usually when you tap on the motor to get them running it is a bad motor.
Check for voltage at the plug when it won't run.

Typically, it's best to swap the resistor and the plug. The plugs are known to melt and have a faulty connection. I have not heard of fan motors going bad.
