What has been your experience replacing half shafts? Mine really need them replaced. Book seens to say you must almost remove the entire front end. Is that true?

No. The inner cv boot must be removed on the big end and a large clip removed from the inside to pull the axle out. The inner CV joint race or cup stays in the truck with the differential.

You only need another hand to loosen the upper ball joint. I used this link as my guide http://www.4x4wire.com/isuzu/tech/CVboots/

Yes it will work. The write up is for the removal of the half-shaft axle (has an inner and outer cv joint). If you couldn't find it in local auto stores, you can check www.rockauto.com (http://www.rockauto.com).

Good luck!
