Has anyone here gone to WyoTech? I am a senior in high school and cars are my passion. I was looking at WyoTech but I've heard mixed reviews on it. Any input would be much appreciated. Also does anyone know of any good schools like WyoTech that I could take a look at?

Look into some trade schools and post in some areas with a little more action.

If you want to specialize, places liek UTI, MMI and Wyotech would be great. Just get opinions first!

Also depends on if you are going brand specific? GM has whats known as the ASEP program, I know Honda and BMW also have their own. I have 2 apprentices that work for me 1 is an ASEP student and the other is a Lincoln Tech student. MY ASEP student knows alot more about GM then the other and will leave with an AA degree and the other will graduate with a certificate and be a little more famaliar with all makes but personally I like the ASEP program.
We had one Tech that graduated from UTI and was one of the smartest
"green" techs that I had ever seen. BUt no matter what school you go to it's what you put in to the program that counts.

Wish you the best!

I too have decided to enroll into Wyotech and wonder if it is a that it is cracked up to be. Should I just go and get experience or should I go to school and then get experience? As of right now I am pretty illiterate in terms of car mechanics however intellegent enough to read a book about it.

i'm attending UTI right now, it all depends on how much time you have, i can always tell who has a full time job or not by whos sleeping in class, but sometimes, you need the money, for a beginner i would suggest looking into a semi-hands-on job while going to school, like working at a parts store or as a porter at a dealership, then move up as you feel ready

In terms of "while going to school" are you saying while going to Wyotech?
I do not plan to work full time if I was to attend that school, because I think it would be a great distraction. I was hoping I can work it out to not work at all. I am still young and live with my parents. (Highschool Senoir)

Wyotech lets a window of oppertunity to open but sadly in life nothing is garenteed. I have to make a decision by thursday, 12-9-04, so I am still really stressing out over it.
