Im not sure how right this guy here is, but he's claiming that a Ford 302 is Ford 289 block that is bored out. He says "you can't bore a Ford 302 over as much as you can bore a chevy 305 over." I dont have any statics on either engine right now so i can't prove or disporve his theory, but I would like to know what you have to say. Is he telling the truth or not?

He is wrong

The Ford 302W is a stroked 289. They share the same bore.

You cannot bore them very much at all but they can be stroked to 347ci (I think thats the right number).

The best way to increase the displacement is to replace it with a 351W which bolts in where a 302 comes out:smoka:

The Ford 302 block has been offered from the factory in 255, 260, 289, and 302 displacements (wasn't there a 221 as well?). The Chevy "small block" has been offered in 265 (two different times), 283, 294, 302, 305, 327 (again, twice), 346, 350, 366, and 400 displacements (am I missing any?).

I don't have all of the bore and strokes for these engines...but I could find them if needed.
