throttle troubles, HELP!!!CustomWhips 02-05-2003, 03:55 AM well ive know what the problem is so i dont need any theries just solutions.. my 99 civic sohc at times idles realy high, (2000,depending) ,if it sticks and stays that way i can check under the hood i push the throttle disk (cable around it) back and it closes the butterfly valve and idles at 5 - 600, (i have a apc intake and the filter is a bit old prolly dirty but i dont think thats the problem.) it also closes it if i pull up rather then pushing down on the gas peddle or if i pop off the peddle allowing it to slam it closed.. ive done alot of investigating and it seems the spring isnt pulling the valve closed on its own, i also lubricated just about every visible thing having to do with the throttle, losend , tightend and returned to orriginal possision. still the same problem exsists. WHAT DO I DO NOW! how can i fix it because its realy annoying. and prolly not a good thing.. kicker1_solo 02-05-2003, 04:04 AM maybe your spring has lost it's sprung, try getting a new one.... CustomWhips 02-05-2003, 04:08 AM what spring? the one by the throttle disk or the gas peddle one. i check the one in the car. nope not the problem.. kicker1_solo 02-05-2003, 04:13 AM Originally posted by CustomWhips ive done alot of investigating and it seems the spring isnt pulling the valve closed on its own CustomWhips 02-05-2003, 04:33 AM did i say spring, dont know what spring. but the throttle disk is realy nice n springy. shepworldwide 02-05-2003, 07:13 AM did you adjust your throttle cable in any way? 2001LX 02-05-2003, 11:48 AM If its the TB, well now you have an excuse to get something with a bigger bore. So grab a brand spankin new throttle body, and clean yor filter. thats about all i can suggest aside from taking it to a place to get it checked out.
