shepworldwide 02-04-2003, 09:24 AM Originally posted by devonic just knowing if anyone knows any must do's before disconnecting everything? well make sure you disconnect battery..take pics before removal of anything so you can look at it to peice it back together.. make sure you replace gasket and remove all parts of remaining gasket on block..drain oil and coolant.. **BE SURE TO CLEAN WORK AREA AND ALL PARTS....DON'T LET ANYTHING FALL INTO ENGINE** show us pics and give a write-up for it after..pro's con's/ easy hard/ and final opinion devonic 02-04-2003, 09:44 AM :) you got it shep civicHBsi91 02-04-2003, 07:08 PM dont you have to be at TDC before doin this? devonic 02-04-2003, 08:15 PM yea he's got it, thanks guys :D post pics in a bit devonic 02-04-2003, 08:21 PM quick question is there a certain sequence the cylinder heads have to be loosened? civicHBsi91 02-04-2003, 10:14 PM yes yes yes i forgot you have to torque down the head bolts then take them off in a sequence, heres a pic of my head when i was doin shyt wit it civicHBsi91 02-04-2003, 10:20 PM shepworldwide 02-04-2003, 11:45 PM Originally posted by civicHBsi91 http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/389233HeadRight.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/269908HeadLeft.jpg nothing too special mmmmmmm clean :licker: devonic 02-05-2003, 12:06 AM theres some pics of what we got done tonight, more than i thought. problem though, theres a plug on the throttle body that snapped off. theres one on the dx' throttle body, exactly the same but the bolts don't have tops but i can see there threaded. probly gonna use a dremel tomorrow and get them out. http://home.earthlink.net/~silage/Images/Swap B16EJ1 02-05-2003, 12:16 AM mmmmmm incriminating!!! shepworldwide 02-05-2003, 07:18 AM Originally posted by B16EJ1 mmmmmm incriminating!!! haha LMFAO........ :bonghitte devonic 02-05-2003, 07:33 AM :D hehe shepworldwide 02-05-2003, 08:30 AM a little oil on your pistons there? what is the reason for this swap? what head did you have? what type of head do you have know and what's the benifit? devonic 02-05-2003, 08:41 AM dried up deposits on the pistons, used a wire brush on the end of the drill to get them off no particular reason for swap, just tired of dx head, slow as balls head was a d16y7 dx head from a 97 civic coupe head now is a d16y8 off a 98 civic ex coupe, benefit...vtec... shepworldwide 02-05-2003, 08:45 AM how much for the ex head? so now you will have to change your ecu and run a wire for vtec? devonic 02-05-2003, 09:11 AM well yea that was gonna be a problem, figured that out when i was tracing the dx wiring harness and was coming up missing plugs on it but finding them on the wiring harness the guy sent me from his EX so i don't have to run a seperate wire for the vtec now yea the ecu, i had ordered one but when i recieved it it was for a manual, put it on ebay and it sold within a day, guy i sold it to did the same as me but got one for a automatic instead of a manual...so we swapped..i am getting it today all in total with shipping it was around $400 sparq 02-05-2003, 03:27 PM So with the SOHC VTEC head you are still slow as balls and $400 less in the old bank account, good job :bloated: shepworldwide 02-05-2003, 03:33 PM Originally posted by sparq So with the SOHC VTEC head you are still slow as balls and $400 less in the old bank account, good job :bloated: so do you approve of this swap?
