5 car Dream garage

If you could have any 5 cars in the world, what would you have? I dont mean the worlds most expensive garage (ie: "Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, Aston, Maserati"), but what 5 cars would mean the most to you/be the most functional/serve a real purpose?

My list:

My first car was a '87 Audi 5000 quattro. I spent 8 years growing up in that car and 3 more years driving it. I would like to find a good condition 5000 quattro, restore it, and keep it in perfect condition. This would also be my beater, my commuter.
http://www.audiworld.com/model/historical/87/pix/5ks.jpg

One of the things I look forward to most after I graduate is a two month road trip across america. Such would require some sort of open top vehicle, and I choose the 911 Targa (a convertible would take up too much cargo space). Not only would this serve as my roadtripper, it could be a fun weekender/auto crosser.

Domestic cars are not my forte. Older V8s all seem the same to me. However, I've always been interested in the Grand National. A turbo v6 that puts out 350lbs/ft in stock form inside of a sharp-cut bad-ass black body. This would spend most of its time in the heated garage lookin badass, then sometimes Id take it out saturday nights to the drag events.
http://www.fast-autos.net/buick/grandntl2.jpg

The DB7 vantage is IMO the most beautiful shape on four wheels. I'll probably never own one of these but its nice to dream. :licker:
http://www.fast-autos.net/astonmartin/vantage15.jpg

The 240sx was my first real "sports car". Even though its not very fast in the straight line, its a blast in the corners. I dont think I could ever bring myself to sell it, so I'll probbably end up replacing the engine, putting on some nice wheels and giving it a real nice paint job. It'll probably look like this one day:

Well thats my dream garage. Can you guys tell I was really bored? :p

1. Black cherry, 1970 Chevelle SS LS6
2. Red/white stripes, 2002 Dodge Viper
3. Red, 2002 Firehawk
4. White with black SV lettering on sides, Lamborghini Diablo SV, 6.0L V12 preferered. If thats even an option.
5. One of the new Bentleys, cream colored and either a tan or white interior.

Lots of fast cars obviously. But I would want a pickup for winter, climbing up mountains, just a good useful vehicle other then going fast. I would consider giving one of those up, maybe the Diablo for a 2002 Silverado LT package.

Also my S-10 Xtreme was sort of a dream car but thats no longer a dream I guess. I'm definately planning on making that Chevelle a reality as well, maybe not the same color.

I could've sworn I tried something like this somewhere else....:( :(

Anyways, 5 that I could own within 10 years or so? (this will be if my novel gets published)

1: Layla. Except she'll receive a nice shiny new lump, a Rover 4.0L V-8 to be precise. Plus I'll finally be able to afford those Campagnalo wheels. Magenesium 5-spokes like the ones on the Ferrari 365GTB. Beautiful!!!

2: 1959 Chevy Bel Air sedan delivery. Consider this my shop truck, and never mind the TPI 427 between the front fenderwells and 18inch billet wheels. :D

3: 1969 Corvair Monza coupe with Crown Engineering small block 350 swap kit. The pleasant thing here is that I won't build it with a regular old 350. I'll build up a Z-28 style 302 with Dominator's 4valve per cylinder heads and Hilborn mechanical fuel injection. Bolt that to a 5spd Hewland transaxle and somewhat sophisticated (for 1970-something) multi-link rear suspension and we have lots of FUN!!!

4: Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe. This is for that rare occasion where I have to look presentable. Plus there's something about this car that really attracts me.

5: 1989 Nissan 240SX hatchback (Sil-Eighty conversion). Yes. I want an SR20DET in my garage. Plus I think the Sil-Eighty's are pretty.

6: (in case cars you already own don't count) Ferrari F355 Berlinetta. These cars are new enough to be considered used, so they're still depreciating in value. Plus, Ferrari got a lot of trade in F355's for 360 Modenas. So, I'll take mine in red and have a great deal of fun for a bit more than 3/4 the original price.

Reasonable, right?

Fliquer
02-13-2003, 03:06 PM
As long as the 355 is a targa ;)

Layla's Keeper
02-13-2003, 09:48 PM
Nah, Berlinetta as in the closed coupe. I can't justify giving up that much weight and structural rigidity. Especially when the car is going to wear shaved Yokohamas and get a four-point rollbar for SCCA club racing. Yeah, it'll be a daily driver, but it still has to earn its stripes.

The targa has great structural integrity. And it weights LESS with the top off, which is GOOD ;) . And like you said, youre gonna have a roll bar anyway right? :D

Layla's Keeper
02-14-2003, 12:01 PM
I'd have to check factory specs on that, Fliquer. Plus, there's the "rich poseur" connotation that always goes with Targa Ferraris. (see also: Magnum PI Ferrari 308) I have no love for the boulevard. Give me empty sweepers anyday.

Unless I'm in the shop truck.....

Well the tops stay in the car so...They weight stays too, hahah. But you can't run really fast with the top off, wind resistance is a killer:)

Wow. Expensive, (save for the Varietta) and rare. I'd have to have about 19 volumes of my novella series top the New York Times bestsellers list to start considering that sort of garage.

Of course, once I could afford that garage, I'd scrap the Zonda, Varietta, and McLaren to put some classic prancing horses at my disposal. I'd say a 365GTB/4 Daytona, 575M Maranello, and F-40 would quite quickly find their way into my nest.

Ferrari's own. Period.

Careful Cbass. Remember 1987? Everyone said that the 959 was the ultimate supercar. It had technology, it had style, it had reliablity and restrained taste. It's water-cooled twin turbo flat-six was the engine every journalist thought was the height of performance excellence....

....and the "primitive" Ferrari F40 with no electronic aids, no luxury options, and a brutish twin-turbo V-8 blew it out of the water in every category.

Just playing around. 911's are great, and I'd love to get my hands on a hardtop 356 or a 904GTS. Maybe I could add the 914/6 and 968 Turbo to that list, too.

But there's a huge row of red on the list ahead of those cars.

I figured from somebody with the name SR20DETpower, I'd see at least one car that was powered by a SR20DET.

4 out of the 5 cars are powered by V8s... :icon16:

I love the LT5 for its z06 smoking abilities! plus whats f'n with a DOHC corvette?...

454ss or a Ram srt10 for a truck, Id rather stick with the chevy though.

The old impala would be my cruiser convertible, this car and the truck would be the main daily drivers/beaters.

The Skyline just whips all ass when its built up nicely, nothing more needs to be said on that...

and the 94 Impalas look awesome on some taisty 20's and dropped a couple inches.

Well why no SR20det powered cars? We asked what I would like to have so I answered. I was thinking of a 240sx on there(prolly would be a KAT anyhow), but the 240sx would yield space in the garage for the all mighty LT5 zr1.

I think I have one of the best dream lists here, what self respecting gear head would want a garage full of trendy millionaire ferrari's or lambo's... Ill take those out in the ZR-1.....

Garage full of American power and packing a Japanese deadly weapon, what else could you ask for?

And for those Sunday Afternoons when you just want to cruise.... A 1967 Chevy Impala.... except mine probably would'nt be on Daytons.

That's why you swap in a 5-spd from an Impreza. SVX owners end up doing that quite often, and kits are sold online for that. I am planning on one as soon as I can raise at least $1500.

A manual SVX.... *drool*

That looks like a beauty, but I'm surprised you didn't say 1969 YENKO Camaro. The name Yenko just seems more recognizable and therefore more valuable to me.

I don't care about value, I want one because it's a ZL1 sleeper. People who don't know what a COPO Camaro would sbe scared shitless when they saw that thing launch.

Once again, I don't care about the value. But...not necessarily worth more. Don Yenko used the Central Office Production Order system to order his Camaros with the 427 already installed in them, then he just did some further tuning and visual changes before selling them to the public. Well, for 1969 anyways. Prior to that, he had to put the 427 in himself.
