So how old are most of you? Im 21 years old and when the time came to buy a new car the new 350Z never crossed my mind. But the G35 Coupe that was a different story. As soon as i saw the G i new i had to have one. Needless to say i went out and purchased a G35 Coupe in Montclair California. I dont really get that many stares, do you think it is because most people think its my dads or something? Im just curious as to how much younger i am than the average G35 Coupe owner.

hmm.. well i'm actually just 24, but at 24 i'd consider myself very young for the average coupe owner's age. in fact, one of the reasons i chose the coupe over the 350z is because i felt there would be less Coupe's "tuned" to death than there would be Z's. i've been down that road before and eventually it was just getting annoying seeing so many similar cars to mine look so tacky.

you also might have to get over the whole "daddy bought your car" thing. i dont know your situation (and it doesn't matter) but that seems to be most people's initial reaction. i bought this myself as a gift to myself, like most buyers probably will.

with regard to the head turns.. i've actually been surprised at how many jaw drops and head turns i get - though i must admit that wasn't / isn't what i'm really looking for! :) the real reward comes on a weekend cruise down my fav road.

VR6punk, sounds a lot like me. I'm 24 as well. I bought the car myself as a gift for my first 3 hard-working years as a stock broker...not a good time to be in the market, but I've done well, and it was time for a reward. I agree about the G35 vs. the 350Z. I had looked HARD at 330ci's prior to knowing about the G35C, but once the G35C press photos were released, I was sold. Nothing better as far as styling goes. It turns heads of owners of all ages, and is a big hit with the ladies too. :smoka:

I my self am 23 and thinking about buying a G35 Coupe. Just some facts for you guys out there, the 350Z was marketed for the true Z fans and a younger crowd of import street racers and along that line. But on the other hand the G35 was aimed at more conservative people in there mid 30's which i really dont understand being that i am young and am totely in love with the G35. I know when ever there is someone passing buy me with a G35 coupe my jaw drops also (like the rest of them), but my Tax return is not that far away and boy i cant wait the day that i drive that bad boy home with that new car smell.

I agree. I got the G35 because I didn't think too many would be "riced out." There's not much you can/need to do to the G35. It would look dumb with a huge spoiler, it doesn't really need ground effects, and anything to break up the sleek lines it's got already would be overkill IMO. The 350 on the other hand, well, I've already seen some of the concepts, and they butcher that car all up with aftermarket stuff.

i'm 21 and i was looking at both cars. it took a while after looking at both cars to decide to go with the g35c. the backseat was big but after comparing the two i started to pull more toward the g35c. i still love the 350z it is really nice but i am more of a luxury person that likes the sofisticated look. maybe i am getting old in my ways but the car is still hot. plus with a nice set of rims, tints, and tv the car will be pimp.

LOL @ "likes the sofisticated look. maybe i am getting old in my ways" immediately followed by the phrase, "the car will be pimp."

Not much to tell, 29, single father of 2, thats the reasoning behind the G35 over the 350Z. Even though I only see them twice a month, they have to sit somewhere

'Ello, I'm new. I'm 28 and thinking of buying the g35c later this year. I bought a grand prix coupe a coupe years ago just because I needed a car, and when I saw the g35 coupe I got really exciting about buying it. I figured I would be fine with this GP for a number of years, but oh well :).

I don't like pure sports cars, such as cars with no back seats, but I like sporty cars. The coupe seems to be a very nice blend of sport and luxury, which is something I'm really looking for.

I've been reading a few posts in other forums and it seems I'm nowhere near the kind of "enthusiast" that some of you guys are. I've been reading posts about drag racing and "killing", as talking as if there's this whole underword of sport car drivers who are playing chicken with each other all the time, and some other things I really don't know what the hell they're talking about. It's just a really beautiful car with some good power that would make my drive back and forth to work every day a little more fun :).

Cheers!

Present for yourself you mean? What are you graduating at 22? College I presume? My present was that I got to look for a job after I graduated college.

I did buy myself a grand prix because I needed a new car for work, but I'm not really all that crazy about it.

Oh my gosh, I seem so much older than most of you. I guess that means I'm still young at heart. I'm 31 female. Beginning of May I purchased a 2003 6MT Sedan with the sport/aero package. I love the car, it's black on black of course. I have rims on order for it now which will be 225/45/18/8.5 in the front and 255/35/18/9.5 on the rear. I would like a hp boost, at least 300+. Waiting to see what NISMO comes out with. No problems with the car, but have concerns with the paint quality. The car gets lots of looks around here, in Santa Maria, CA.

I'm 28 right now. I'm picking up a Carribean Blue/Graphite 6MT tomorrow. It arrived Monday and I'm waiting for the window tinting now.

The 5 year autoloan payments came out to the same as the 3year lease payments.

After 3 years, the amount paid on both options would be exactly the same... cept you don't own the car with the lease...

I guess its upto the person....

WOW! I am really suprised at how young most of you owners of the Gs are. Of course you did say coupe, but man thats a fair chunk of change for a young man. Grant it I have a 2500 Sq ft. house w/pool in Fl. and a 99 Wrangler lifted with big meats and two beautiful daughters (no wise cracks dudes) that I pay for thier college, a lugly wife that likes to shop, a Dalmation that likes to eat a go to the vet and all the bills associated with a family and homownership, but I have the sedan and I'm 46. Of course I look 35 even If my gotie has a little gray in it. The chicks dig the mac daddy in his 35.

I am a 21 year old college student and I am going to order my coupe at the end of the month! The dealer told me if I wait until then it will be an 2004. What do you guys think of the "new" (re-introduced) Twilight Blue?

I'm going to fully load it ($37,500), should I quibble with the price? Any suggestions?

As you stated, you have a home and family. I'm trying to get my fun in before I get to your stage

Once I start having kids, (SAVE US, as most ppl know who know me would say...), then I'll probably be in that Subaru WRX or so...

The dealer just finished tinting my windows and is bringing the car to my office as we speak... :)

I think I've read in previous posts that there wasn't much tweaking needed for the exhaust, but hey, I'm not too knowledgable on upgrades... *shrug*

At least the tinting was my first step too. $300. I probably could have found it cheaper, but oh well.

Sup fellas.... I just joined about 5 mins ago after I stumbled onto this website looking for G35 mods and answers about the break in period. I just turned 22 on May 8th, and I got mine coming the 2nd week of July.

6MT Coupe, Laser Red/Graphite, w/ Premium and Aero packages.

I had one on order to include all of the above plus NAV coming the first week of September, but I decided to save 2 Gs and also get it sooner. Its good to see other people my age getting the car, a friend of my roommate who's 23 just got his about 2 weeks ago. Needless to say I was a little jealous but it'll look really cool with two of them parked outside at our next party. To all your other under 25'ers out there... If you're working your ass off don't let anyone give you any crap. It's fun to buy yourself a 40 thousand dollar present. But now it's time to save for a house. haha!

Happy cruisin' !

mannnnnn the average age on this thread is looking towards under 25 which seems pretty crazy ! im 21 and my dad 49 just got one. Im still in awe of it, unfortunately its hands off for me for now :( even if i graduate from school in 2 years i still couldnt see myself buying a g35 coupe or sedan for that matter. It would essentially mean an entire year's first pay of work goes directly to the purchase of the car. I dont know about u guys but mannn balancing out university tution payments + other payments + having a brand spanking new car once u graduate u must have one crazy mofo job.

Another thing up here in canada whenever u buy a car is that insurance policies are required for every single driver / car. I dont know if its the same cuz some of the insurance numbers ive been hearing is like a couple of hundred per year USD is still pretty low. Just for having a new 3rd car in my family ive gotta pay about 1700 for myself to insure myself on a 92 camry :( thats about 1500 US per year

ahh well to those who have their own car, smoke all those high school kids with honda civic DX's out there and shown them what real power is :D

Hey i'm 16 and am planning on getting a G35 for my 17th. I still havent made up my mind on either a 4door, Coupe, or 350z...and out of the three i've only driven my cousins 350z, i'll just have to visit the dealer soon for the other two.

Sure some of you might think i'm a spoiled little rich kid but I aint rich, or spoiled. My mother just wants me to have what she couldnt have at her age because when she did get her first car at 18 (which was when she could afford it) it was a complete clunker. And since she is doing 100x better than 20 years ago why not? And its her idea, if it was up to me i'd get a 97 Maxima but with a new ride your worry free...

i think the age on this car is so young is because the age of people on this forum is young in general. i don't see my old man (50+) logging on to talk about cars, but there are obviously exceptions.

As to the 16 year old that's almost 17 :) thats pretty cool you're getting this car. if you wanted to be a millionaire by the time you retire you could just buy a used car and invest it though. then again, i chose this path too so who the hell am i to talk!?? ;)

i think that everyone seems so young becuase the average aged buyer of a G35, which is most likely in their 30's and 40's, has kids and a family life, doesn't have time to spend in forums talking about their car. just a thought...

I'm 26. I will be picking up my G35 6MT w/Nav in December. I've owned a S2000, Boxster, and an S4. I've long ago gotten over the "did your dad buy that car for you" syndrome. I looked at the 350z very seriously, but in the end, I felt I could live with the G35 coupe longer than the Z. Plus, the G35 looks better IMHO.

Hey, im 20 years old and own a honda civic. Im starting to get tired of speding so much money on it. I want a car allready equipped with all the stuff. And i know my next car will be the G35c, its just when i get it. Well I thought about getting it now. I checked out the monthly payment and with a 10,000 trade in and 3000 down my mo. payment is only 387. I can afford that and i work at a supermarket. Now insurance is the kicker, I wonder how much my quote would be... Right now my parents pay for insurance.

Im thinkin i should wait till after college (i dont pay for college either)

I'm 21 years old & bought my first car 7 mos ago silver g35c, people assume its my dad's so i installed an injen cai & my catback is on order. I also added a few stickers & the aftermarket parts tell people especially the ones my age that the car is mine. I got a little help from my mom with the down payment but the monthly payment is all me $384 & $168 for insurance. I love this car its a head turner.

23 here, have worked for BMW for just over 4 years so the 330Ci was a prime choice for me. saw an FX45 on the rode about 6 months ago and liked it, went to the site and saw the G35coupe, had to have it. went to the dealership here and ordered a loaded 6 speed the next day. mine was delivered the saturday before Christmas '03 so it was my christmas present to myself. insurance? in central TX, 23 male with a perfect driving record and 4 years with the same insurance company and I pay 2200$ for 6 month policy. I don't care though. the car is incredible, I'd willingly pay twice that much in insurance.

I'm turning 23 early in March. I'll be done college at the end of this year if I don't screw up any more classes :screwy: I've very likely got a place to work in the home town and should be starting with 30 g's a year (Canadian money). That's probably not even close to what a lot of you make by the sounds of it but I will be debt free coming out of school and will be eager to get into debt buy myself a graduation present. Also, I'm cheap so I don't have trouble holding on to money. I'll probably have to work 6 months or so to get my down payment high enough to a level I'm comfortable with it. My dad says 1/3 is a solid amount to put down on any purchase and that sounds right.

I've been thinking about either the Acura TSX or TL or the Subaru WRX STI. Acura being the cheaper of the two (at least in Canada) and also being a lot more luxurious than the Subaru. The fun factor of the Subaru appeals to me though.

Then I noticed the G35 coupe manual... wow this car impresses me. Seems like a solid blend between luxury, performance and looks. Also, it looks like it will be in my price range. I will definently have to test drive one when I am finally able to buy.

I would have liked to have had a killer car (or any car) at a younger age but I still consider myself somewhat young. I just hope I don't wash out of college!

i am 17. i just bought my own g35 sedan. leather w/ the low profile tires and 17" rims. i think they threw in a sports suspension also. tiptronic is cool, but it feels like the car is slightly stalling when i downshift at too high a speed. i put a 12 inch sub in the car and the rearview shakes :).

at first i thought the back window was shaking but when i held the rearview with my hand it stopped shaking. the backseats vibrate alot when the music is playing. i kept the stock system it is pretty good, i didn't get the bose package though, as bose is obviously not the best on the market.

im not planning any mods for the car as it turns plently of heads already. in the first 2 weeks strangers on the street gave me thumbs up and complimented me.

one thing in my city is that the speed limit is 25 in town! and this makes riding in the car unbearable, as it is capable of much more than this. it feel's like i am not moving at all.

i think the car is great and was my first choice over a4, and 330xi.

i am leasing at $350 a month w/ 3k down. State farm insurance in jersey is 3200 a year under my dads name who is almost 40 with barely any accident history.

bottom line: don't move to jersey, and get a g35 sedan.

Hello all, action11 here and I am a new G35 owner and I am a happy guy. Ironically, I am 35. I have been driving stick sport coupes since I started driving 18 years ago. This car is pure fun and a kick in the butt. I see most of you are in your 20's. gotta love it. I hope most of you are taking advantage of the G in stick. There is no greater pleasure then to slam that gear shift and feel your back sink into the seat behind you in a pure unadulterated rush. I am always up for advice on the G if anyone has ideas. such as winter tire/wheel suggestions. I look forward to hearing opinions and thoughts. thx, rmember to keep it over 4000 rpm for fun.
