Where i live you are lucky if you see a Ferrari or a Porsche once or twice a year....so getting to drive a exotic is out of the question.

The best i have driven is a '99Subaru WRX STi a couple of weeks ago when i almost traded my Primera on one.

The power and handling left mine for dead.
Have to get one soon i think :) :)

My daily driver is a 92 Corvette. Compared to the other cars that are on the road it's far superior performance wise.

I drove a 2000 Corvette M-6, but not enough to know it. It's a better car of course than mine. I just can't afford it thats all.

I grew up in a pretty... affluent area. I worked at a gas station accross from an exotic car dealership and saw about 4 billion amazing cars a day. I've driven my friends girlfriends dads '91 911 Turbo, a Lotus Caterham 7 (170hp/1200lb car), my moms '01 Jetta 1.8T, a very modified '92 Mustang GT, and ridden in my friends dads '98 BMW 540i. I got to drive the lotus a few days ago, the friend who owns it also has a '96ish 3000GT VR4 which is his daily driver. I can not even compare driving the Lotus to any other car, it literally sits low enough that you can reach out and touch the ground while driving.

not joking :D I used to work for a company that sold Facom tools (they make the titanium tool kit that comes with the car) and there was a competition throughout all the stores and the top 10 to sell the most tools. I was in the top ten so I got a tour of their formula 1 factory, their F1 roadcar factory and saw them on the production line and then had a ride round their test track in the £650,000 roadcar (K8 MCL) :D

When was this? cause their production line was only 100 cars
and it's not really even a production line they worked on about 2 cars at a time.... in the one top gear video (for the Mclaren) they showed the so called production line and it was just a couple cars, it looked almost like a normal room with some tools around, and people were working on them

btw for me now (because of recent drives) Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari 360 Modena :)
The Ferrari was one of my dad's business partner's cars

It was several years ago, I think it was 1996 when I went and they had made about 65 cars, I think they were working on car 68, and yes the factory was pretty small and absolutely immaculate!

Ive driven nothing exotic but a few interesting older cars.

1949 MG TC
1955 MG TF

those would be the most valuable ive driven but the car I most enjoyed driving would have to be

1971 MG Midget in a gymkhana, most fun ive had in my whole life (yes I know that sounds really sad)

Best for me would be my dads 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT....absolutely amazing. I'm always get adreniline rushing and goose bumps everytime I get to drive it. Can't imagine what the new ones are like. On the totally different side of the car world I got to drive my friends dads 69 Dodge Super Bee with a 440 in it....ya it had good acceleration.

The coolest car I´ve drived is my friends Peugeot 406 coupe. Its a true Sports coupe with a V6 engine and about 200HP and some luxury apointments too. By price it certainly wouldn´t compit with an Accord Coupe or Toyota Solara, but yes in Europe it does with the BMW 3 series coupe and Mercedes CLK. And one of my luxurious and comfort+ rides I´ve had is on my aunt´s 1998 MB E430. For the ones that haven´t seen the Peugeot here´s some pics of it.

Hmm, well this is pretty simple for me, i've only driven 2 sportscars. One was the 2000 Audi TTs and the other (And the most fun) was a 911 TT (not sure what year, I think a 98) on BBSs, 16psi boost, numerous internal mods, no bodymods.
I'd like to add a Skyline to the list someday, perhaps I'll even own one of these beasts!

They do compete with Honda & Toyota, in Europe, the CLK & 3 Series Coupe compete, with the Accord Coupe and Celica as well as the Peugeot

Peugeot is a generalistic brand compiting specially with Ford, VW, Citroen. You can find from a $8000 (or less?) 106 3door hatchback and going to the top you´ll find the significantly more expensive 406 coupe and 607. They´re now launching pretty nice, safe and more reliable cars for reasonable pricing.

Well..

I used to work for a cellphone install place a loooooong time ago (late 80's, I'm aging myself here hehe) so I got to drive lots of nice cars actually. The place was in New Orleans and they guy that owns Popeye's (fast food franchise) lived there. He had Porsches, Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, Rolls, etc as well as the usual Mercedes and BMW's coming in.

You don't get to really drive them more so then just pull them in and out of the bays and into the parking lot.

Was fun nonetheless. :)

I drive a WRX daily and a Honda RC51 (VRT1000SP1 motorcycle) not that either of those are especially exotic. ;)

your talking about Al Copeland...he has some awesome cars, inluding Lambo Countach, Diablo SV, a few 911TTs, Indy cars, and nascars o name a few. He also owns a few offshore racing boats.

how could it compete with a CLK then?? A CLK costs like twice as much as an accord coupe or celica

you'd drool over a bmw 330?? that's basically the same as my car (cause my car was the top 3 in 2000, the 330 just added the .2 liters, for the same price as the 328 for 2001)

they're not all that special..

I said the Peugeot DOES NOT compit with Accord coupe and Celica, maybe the 2.0L version gets a little bit closer to them, anywise Im talking about the V6 version, and even if it has power like in the Accord V6 the Peugeot is oriented to a different kind of buyer, like the Mercedes maybe, even if there´s a Mercedes CLK diesel in Europe less powerfull and slower than an Accord Coupe it stills been more espensive. I hope it´s clear now :)

Jimster
12-19-2001, 12:23 AM
I can't remember which issue it was but Top Gear magazine put the 2.0 406 against the Cougar, Prelude (non VTEC), Celica and FIAT Coupe 5 cylinder, those are the true rivals for the base models, yet the Accord V6 Coupe, 325Ci and CLK230K are the rivals for the V6, this is all according to British pricing.

Euro19

I believe you. Is just that those Toyotas and Hondas got to be expensive in England!! I see Top Gear magazine in TV, it´s a pretty cool show too bad it only longs have an hour every week.

My mom's CLK AMG 55. what a beast. EURO 19 oh yea, no way CLK are in the class of accords, never in a million years, an CLK Diesel, no. never ever heard of one, even if there was one, it would be a turbo diesel. But, they dont have them anyway. And a CLK slower than an Accord V6, no. I have no clue where you got those stats..

JBL85
02-09-2002, 07:21 PM
Actually a 6 cylinder Mercedes is slower then a v6 accord...the only quicker 6 cylinder mercedes is one with forced induction or a 320 SLK

mastachi
02-09-2002, 08:12 PM
The SLK and CLK are two different cars. The Honda Accord V-6 has a 7.7 second 0-60 time. The CLK 230 has a 0-60 time of 7.5. Thats the smaller engine without a Kompressor. The engine has 215 hp, the CLK 430 has 272 hp. The 320 SLK as you put it is not the only car force induction made by Mercedes Benz. They put a (Kompressor) in each model of car they make besides the A-Class. Its SLK 320 anyway. The CLK 430, C320, S320, CL500-600, SLK 320, SL 430, these are just some of the cars with kompressors, The CLK, C, and SLK have 6 cylinder engines.

JBL85
02-10-2002, 04:15 AM
well, we raced a Kompressor 230 against my Maxima which is stock. The Maxima beat it, both of them were launched the same with a brake drop and both had full tanks. My friends 4-door Accord beat my Maxima, I had a bad start, but he still would have beat me....so I dont know what 0-60 your talking about.

The mercedes was those small ones where the top goes into the trunk...

mastachi
02-10-2002, 04:23 AM
the CLK, SLK, and SL have tops that go into the trunk, if an accord beat your maxima, the your maxima very fast. Maxima's are hella faster than accords. you should look on the internet for car stats, then you would believe me. i know this cause i looked at car an driver and motor trend..

mastachi
02-10-2002, 04:25 AM
i meant to say your maxima is not very fast if it couldnt beat an accord. even a V6..maximas are hella fast..

JBL85
02-10-2002, 05:04 AM
trust me, well I guess that bad launch constituted for a lot.....and racing on windy roads doesnt help....but I am sure an accord coupe can beat a SLK.......im not good with mercedes but thats the one that says Kompressor (mercedes symbol) 230 on the back of it....im not to good with mercedes.....i usually dont have them in front of me:D

mastachi
02-10-2002, 12:07 PM
You may have beat it, but i can tell you one thing, I use to live in the city were M-B was built makes it hard to believe, im not saying your wrong at all, i have alot of pride built up in M-B, that could be my mistake. But, people buy those Kompressor labels just like ppl by type R badges an what not. Lets let this go, is that cool??
