Wire gauge

ok, what is the deal with speaker boxes coming with 16ga wire in them? Even the better boxes like Fusion. If I have to run 12ga from amp to box, why would anyone want 16ga from inside box to sub?

shorter runs require smaller wires for the same power ..... besides, most of the power loss is incurred atr the connections.

P.S. have you bothered to look and see just how small the "tinsel" leads are that go from the speaker basket to the cone ?

the amp also need much more power then it actually lets into the speekers. the thicker gage wire is made that way in order to handle the amount of amps it draws. once the signal is converted, the amprage drops significantly

so is there even any advantage/disavantage in replacing the wire in the box to 12ga?

probably not ... I would leave them alone
