I need to get a new car I have come across either a 2003 Audi A4 1.8 T quattro Tiptronic or a 2003 BMW 325i? Which one should i get?

This is a win-win situation for you:)

IMO the 325i is superior vehicle.

Why?

-Smoother and torquey inline 6.
-Better handling with a more neutral and stable behavior. Without the terminal understeer of the A4.
-Better steering feel and significantly better brake feel.
-Better reliability record (though neither is a high up as you would expect)
-I also give the BMW the edge in transmission, though the Audi Tiptronic is good it's slower shifting and in drive doesn't pick the right gear all the time or hold the gear like the BMW.

Advantages to the Audi:

-QUATTRO- with the same tires the 325i can't hope to match the A4 Quattro in the snow.
-More trunk space
-Lower price

I don't know anything about the Audi. So, I can't make an objective judgment about the car and its performance. I do know about BMW since I have owned a 2002 325i for seven months. The main complaint I have about the BMW is all their 3 series cars have defective am radios.( Static and other distortion that can't be fixed) The problem is so bad that if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't buy the BMW. I checked with their service center and they said the 2003's have the same problem. So, if you like spending 34,000 dollars for a car that has a am radio that sounds worst than a 10 dollar potable, than go ahead.

Had a brand new 2000 A4, now have a 98 328 coupe. No comparison as the BMW is better all round. Better drive, more power, much quieter. Only drawback to mine is rear passengers getting in and out of just 2 doors.

By the way, my radio is fine. Listen to AM all the time. Previous reply must have a duff radio rather than the car being at fault.

fact of the matter is the dealers around us are flooded with complaints about the am radios. they apparently have a poor antenna design on all 02 03 3series cars. cars earlier than this i know nothing about...........

I havent had the pleasure of owning either car but I know plenty from reading magazeens for many years that the BMW is superior. If you want maximum pleasure out of driving than the BMW is for you. I think that the BMW is better in terms of looks too. Its really a matter of personal preference and a win win situation anyway. Enjoy your car!!:D
