Make sure you go Tamiya!
You want your first project to go together well, and for that only one company will do!!!
Plus a great range!!!

OK, I'm back, but I need to go back to the store to get the paints, because I didn't know which ones I would need until I opened the darn thing.

I'm now the proud owner of a Tamiya Renault R5 Turbo (I LOVE those cars.... :D:D)

I don't have either a digicam or a scanner here :(

Also, they were all out of flat black. Of course that's the color I need the most...I'll just have to keep checking back

Noooooooooooo!!!!

I want A Renault R5 Turbo!!!!!

I am jealous now!!!!!!!!

You can spray the matt black if you want, actually, semi gloss black looks much better!!!

Just buy some automotive Semi gloss black bumper paint, spray each part with a plastic primer first, then a coat of bumper spray, and you will be pleased with the result.

All the black parts on my S2000 were done that way.........

X-18 Semi-gloss black is by far the color I buy the most. I go through a bottle every three models or so.

Tamiya kits come with a list of the colors you need, in order by their X-numbers, but I usually dross-reference them to the rest of the instructions so I don't accidentally buy purple, when it's one of the optional colors. Go ahead and but all the colors it asks for; you'll find the next kit uses 90% of the same colors: Flat Aluminum, Steel, Metallic Gray, etc... Then you'll have a sturdy stable of paint in your basic car colors. :D

Do they have a website??????

I take it yours is the Yellow/White rally car?

Heep

Yeah, it's www.racebuffs.com, but I don't see them listed there.

Actually it's just the black (or red) road car with "Turbo" decals on each door. I can't even find it on their website.

Hey Guiddy, I went back to the store and they have about 5 or so of the yellow/white R5 Turbo rally cars, same price, $22 Canadian. :D:D

Also, does anyone know where I can get a Dodge Stealth (whatever brand)? My friend had a model of one back in '94 or something, but I assume they all discontinued them now since they no longer make the Stealth...

Stealth (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1643309117) on eBay. Starting bid: $9.99.

Also:
Mitsubishi 3000GT (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?TAM24108) on HLJ.com.

:D

I dunno, what's available over there (in the same price range)? E-mail me (heep@automotiveforums.com) for posting specifics and stuff...

Actually, a Ford Racing Puma or 1st gen Escort Mexico or something would be awesome....

Here's what I'm working on now:

And Guiddy, like I said, either a Racing Puma, Escort Mexico, or either one of these will do awesome as a trade for that rally car:

Lol...refer to my post Ugly cars (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t7929.html) about why I want those cars, I think Scooters fit that bill perfectly as well :D:D:D
