I was driving my '02 Sierra (4.8L) last night when it suddenly died at around 35 MPH. The engine sputtered and acted like it was not getting fuel and then cut. This does not seem to be a batter/alternator issue as power remained on and was bright. I could restart the car and the engine would turn over, but then it would suddenly sputter and die again. Any thoughts?

Not much help...but my 02 Sierra fuel pump went out at about 24,000 miles(4 years old) but didn't leave me stranded.....whined like super charger, and then the gas gauge went haywire...very erratic and sudden changes in readings just before the pump was replaced under extended factory warranty.

Basics, start by checking fuel pressure.
