That will buy an okay deck and an all right pair of front speakers. True quality sound will cost a good grand.

i think quality sound with "not so high priced" components is all in how you install it. ive got an '85 cougar and maybe spent about $300 total on the system...and god be my witness.....ive got the best soundin system where im from....its a small town but theres still many people that try to competition with me and ........CANT!

Panasonic deck
2 jensen 6x9's
2 roadmaster 5x8's
2 lightining audio 4x6's
700W TIS amp
300W TIS 10"subwoofer
400W Pioneer 12" subwoofer............................

400W Pioneer 12" subwoofer............................ <----there's your problem. you're talking about volume. not sound quality. you won't ever get real sound out of that equipment. I'm sorry. it may be loud, but it still sucks

truly there is BIG difference between what sounds good and what sounds accurate. You should try going to an actual competition, it will be quite an eye opening experience.

Just shop around, dude. I got my 2 Diamond Audio 10" subs off a Sentra site I go to for not even $300 and I got the Hifoncs 1200W RMS amp off ebay for $180...I spent MAYBE 500 bucks on the whole thing and it's going to rule all when it's all in. You don't have to spend a ton of money to sound good...but you're probably going to have to spend more than $250. If you actually want to stay that low, buy used stuff. Find a sub and box somewhere for...I dunno...$100-$150 and a little amp to run it for another $100 or so. Won't sound great but it'll work! Trust me...I've done it!

If you just wanna be loud and do it cheap, check out the "System" I had in my first 300ZX: 2 front speakers from a flea market, 1 12" MTX Blue Thunder sub in a sealed box, MTX Road Thunder amp...sub AND box = $80 off some dude in a Circuit City parking lot...amp = ~$250 but I bought it new. My record was 3 car alarms in one parking lot...it was loud. If sound quality doesn't matter, get a cheap-ish sub and box and a decent, small amp. A good amp can make a meh sub sound ok but a good sub will never make a shitty amp sound good.

shopping around can definitely be rewarding, look on forums in the for sale section and for group buys. Online places and ebay can be pretty good too.

Personally I am amazed at some cheap audio. Being 15, I don't have big bucks to spend on audio in my truck or my room. I usually just try cheap stuff. My Room audio cost me a total of 70 bucks! And I have the best sound system of all my friends. It consists of a couple old Sanyo speaker boxes with DUB 269 2-Way 400W Car Speakers, and a TIS 10" 300W Sub. I put two DUBS in each box and Voila it works. I'm amazed with the TIS sub. I bought it for $29.99 at XSCargo and Its pretty hard to find its max point with my full size Technics 275W Component Reciever and my Computer. I personally am using an old 300W amp out of our old Reliant K car and hooking two more DUBS up in my truck for rear speakers, and maybe another one or two TIS in the back.

:evillol: Yea man just shop around. Use ebay, as funny as it sounds that is a good place to get good, cheap speakers. I got a 12" Alpine type-r sub for only $1 brand new. I also bought an Alpine Ida-x001 head unit for $50 and the regular price is $450. So I got a great deal, but then again you do have to be lucky and good at finding the right things. Next for me is my alpine amp and alpine speakers, maybe another $80 brand new.:evillol:

ebay, group buys and stuff like that work if you are patient. Unfortunately, most kids are poor AND impatient.

lmao, well i don't have alot of money to spend on mine either. I am willing to wait, and find deals, but im under 16, and im pushing my parents to get another credit card set up for online bids. After that then i will shop around for some deals, ill have about $500-$600 to spend. I already have a JBL deck with satellite radio, and rear speakers
