ford trans vs gm transGreyGoose006 12-08-2007, 03:12 PM i am looking for a manual trans so i can do a t5 or t56 swap into a camaro. so far, i havent found any reasonably priced gm t5 transmissions or t56 transmissions, but have seen a great many fox-body t5's and vipere t56's. i realize that the viper t56 has a few differences than the camaro t56, but what are the differences between the fox-body t5 and the camaro t5, and can i simply change the bellhousing and flywheel and turn a fox-body t5 into a camaro compatible t5? GreyGoose006 12-09-2007, 03:03 PM anyone have any ideas? wafrederick 12-09-2007, 09:16 PM The Ford and GM T5 look the same and the only differance is the input shaft. The GM T5 has more splines than the Ford T5. GreyGoose006 12-09-2007, 11:06 PM so can i modify a ford trans to work in a gm application? wafrederick 12-10-2007, 08:56 PM Get a clutch kit for a Mustang or you can modify it to fit it to a GM. GreyGoose006 12-11-2007, 06:17 PM is that all? what about the bellhousing? can i use a chevy bellhousing or do i need a custom one? wafrederick 12-11-2007, 06:41 PM Use the Chevy bellhousing too and I forgot to mention that vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
