Right Hand Side Drive in the U.S.?

Would it be legal to buy a right hand side drive car and drive it on the streets here in the U.S.? Is there anything I should know about bringing foreign cars over to the U.S.?

I don't believe its illegal as most postal vehicles (which can range from all of the old model Jeep vehicle lineup to Saturn S series wagons) in the US are right hand drive. When importing a vehicle you just need to worry about emmisions and such.

there is nothing inherently illegal about right hand drive, however, it is illegal to import most foreign-market cars to the US for various other reasons.
