a loose hose in 1984 vw rabbitchilaquila 12-04-2007, 08:32 PM Hi there, I was driving up to Chicago from Austin and all of a sudden my car stalled. After a horrible experience with an auto mechanic in IL, I left the car at my parents house in chicago. I know what's wrong with the car, there is a loose hose that is dripping diesel fuel and I think that it's also sucking air into the engine and making it stall. Thing is I have no idea how to reconnect the hose and my father, he's worked on cars, doesn't know where this hose connects, I'm going to attach a picture, the hose is the black one on the left that leads nowhere. Anyone know what it is? here is a link to the picture of the engine (4 speed manual diesel with a grease conversion on the left hand side) any help would be extremely appreciated, I LOVE MY RABBIT http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h274/Krealm2/IMG_4511.jpg zagrot 12-15-2007, 10:43 PM i'm 99% sure that is the fuel tank vent line. there are three metal lines just behind the passenger strut tower and connect to the plastic/ rubber fuel hoses to the engine 1.) fuel supply 2.) fuel return 3.) fuel tank vent (connects to nothing, just sticks into a hole in the crush zone in front of the wheel well as far as i can tell). i think your troubles lie elsewhere, sorry, hope this helps somewhat. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
