Firewall clean upABigWeaney 12-04-2007, 08:59 AM OK i have a 92 tsi and i was wondering what would be a good way to clean up the firewall. I already removed the cruise control stuff and some other stuff but it still looks bad. Would it be a good idea to remove the padded stuff on there and paint it and it would look better? i need some ideas.. SilvrEclipse 12-04-2007, 03:32 PM The padding is probably used to block the heat. Im not sure if I would remove that. david-b 12-04-2007, 03:41 PM Also probably there for noise absorption. Blocks some of that engine bay rustle and bustle. I would keep it. It's a firewall, it's supposed to be cluttered with crap you need. Good call on the CC though. ABigWeaney 12-04-2007, 06:03 PM i am in the process of painting the engine bay i think it is going to be pearl black, i have not decided yet it is in just primer right now. if i knew how to post pictures on here i would... gthompson97 12-04-2007, 06:27 PM www.imageshack.us or www.photobucket.com Then paste the file back in the reply and it should show up. ABigWeaney 12-04-2007, 08:23 PM i can't figure it out right now but this will work http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh84/abigweaney/Picture007.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh84/abigweaney/Picture002.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh84/abigweaney/Picture001.jpg Blackcrow64 12-04-2007, 11:20 PM You painted it white/silver? Do you realize how quickly that'll get dirty and how bad dirt will show up in it? That's why I did mine flat black. It hides everything on the firewall much better too. Gives it a more clean look. ABigWeaney 12-05-2007, 08:22 AM that is high temp primer..... the finish will be a high temp glossy black, i painted a lot of it before work last night ( i work from 10PM-7AM 5 days a week, it really sux). ill post the pictures of it when i get them later today. SilvrEclipse 12-05-2007, 09:04 AM Looks good so far man vanilla gorilla 12-06-2007, 01:33 AM You painted it white/silver? Blackcrow64 12-06-2007, 08:58 AM Well that's interesting... It looks like Lego block colors. lol gthompson97 12-06-2007, 04:14 PM I'm not too sure that you should have painted the alternator, but the rest looks good. Thor06 12-06-2007, 04:41 PM Yeah dude, I think you went just a tad overboard. Not only will all that shit get really dirty, but some of that probably shouldnt have been painted in the first place. Good luck anyway though. inafogg 12-06-2007, 04:42 PM im thinking red...... well at least alternators got to be replaced sometimes all looks good keep us posted ABigWeaney 12-07-2007, 11:59 AM i was thinking of painting the bottom of the hood black, would that be a good idea or just too much?
