I just purchased a 98 tahoe 2dr 2wd 5.7 to replace one that I had exactly the same to replace one that a deer totaled.My problem is on the first start after sitting a while (about 1-2 hrs)engine will crank but not start.It does not make a difference how long you crank it will not start until you cycle the key the second time it starts right up.I am aware of the fact that I should check fuel pressure first and I have not done so as yet.I can hear fuel pump energizing when key is turned to on position and then stops when pressure is reached but no start until the second key cycle.Any suggestions or direction?

Welcome to AF, yes check the FP during the no start event, like you said. 60-65 psi.

My 96 tahoe does that on occasion. I was told it was a common thing with that engine and not to sweat it.
