CA Cutlass Supreme 01-01-2008, 08:35 PM F I X E D It's a good thing i pulled the ICM / ECM fuses before hooking up the battery. I was gonna test the car and found that i left it in neutral with the key on!! (had to rotate the motor forward yet again to tighten the backside bolt of the smog pump). I did the idle relearn for 10 minutes and drove it through Portland and Vancouver, no problems. Also, the LED instrument panel works as it should. I think the VSS was confusing the panel, now it works fine, no erratic blinking. Got mph, gas level, odometer. whew! Nice to have a running car again. Happy New Year! JohnDD 01-01-2008, 08:52 PM So what was the problem? CA Cutlass Supreme 01-01-2008, 09:12 PM So what was the problem? I think the start of the problem was a shorted VSS that was confusing my dash. Then i had bad wiring (shorted)/conduit to the 3X sensor and most likely a bad 3X crankshaft sensor. I also replaced the 24X sensor just on principle along with the ICM (my original was 14 years old), then finally a nice new goodyear belt tensioner and new serpentine and smog belts. So a couple shorts and two bad sensors (3X and VSS) xeroinfinity 01-02-2008, 05:48 PM Glad to hear you got it goin !! It usualy is something silly simple, good job at stickin with it too. Most would have scaped it or just set it on fire. Happy New years ! Is this normal? I tried using the special GM key (short a/b) to read codes, but i just hear this weird sound and quit that quicklike. ecartman 01-06-2008, 11:34 PM One thing though.
