One headlight is dimmer than anotherwyciwug 10-23-2007, 09:06 AM on my xterra 2007, headlight on passenger side is alot dimmer than the one on the driver side. The dealer said that's how Nissan designed Xterra to make one side brighter than the other side and to help driver see better. Does anyone know if this is an excuse they are making or it is the truth?? Thank Schludwiller 12-01-2007, 02:19 AM Sounds like BS to me. If anything, the passenger side would be brighter so the drivers side didn't blind oncoming drivers. Your passenger light could probably be twice as bright and not offend oncoming drivers and would help you see the fog line and the side of the road. What you're describing is the opposite. Light-bulbs are the same wattage when you buy them (your owners manual doesn't say to buy different wattage lights right?), so they would have to actually lower the power going through the line. Haven't heard of that before. When you hear things like this from your dealer, ask yourself if it makes sense. If it doesn't call another dealer and see what they say. If a dealer is yanking your chain about a cheap fix like headlights, just remember that next time you're wondering who to take your malfunctioning engine to. G.A.S. 12-01-2007, 06:04 AM to answer your question, you have a bad ground somewhere. eti engineer 12-09-2007, 11:39 PM Sometimes the connector on the back of the light can develop a high resistance contact which acts as a dropping resistor in series with the light. Take off the connector and clean it good, spring the contacts back to where they create some pressure when you are re-connecting it, and see if that takes care of the problem. I've had this happen on more than one car I have owned. Sometimes you have to replace the connector. Later.... eti engineer vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
