1994 Pontiac Bonneville ABS Question

Hi, im new to the pontiac forums on AF.com and have been looking at purchasing a Bonneville from the years 93-99, i have been test driving a few and i found a few that i like. There is one though that id like to pickup for the price and the overall condition of the car, although it has one problem. As the dealer told me the ABS Pump needs to be replaced, now he said without it the brakes work fine just like a normal conventional breaking system. I dont know how hard it would be to replace it nor do i know what it would cost to have it brought it or just parts alone. He wants $2500 for the car it has about 110,000 on it , and from listening to it run and just over looking it without driving it, it seems like a pretty nice car. If i where to consider it i would drive it but from what i have said what does everyone think?

My next question is about a 99 i drove today a SLE, runs really smooth , has good overall power and looks great, it's an actually SLE , and he wants under $5000 , so im assuming about $4500-$5000? couldn't give me an exact price since he was alittle busy, the car has 88,888 on it ... Is that to much for htat perticular car or could i find sumthing in better condition for that price?

At this point i own a 02 Impala Base model and really just want to stay in the H Body or W Body Gm cars... So any input is appreciated.

Thanks

For used car prices check with nadaguides.com, price adjusted for your area and mileage/equipment. Yes the abs not working will not affect the regular brakes. Remember these prices are always negotiable.

Yeah that's what i figured, and i know there negotiable but what i want to know is for that price and the milage and what is wrong with it that he has told me , is it worth it? I think Wed Im going to go take a Test Drive in the car , maybe see how it runs and all that? For the price id much rather get that if it runs and doesn't have any other issuses then spend more on a second car, i just need sumthing just incase my current car needs to go in for whatever reason , and so my father has sumthing to drive back and forth to the store, to the casino so i think in that price range in might be alright but i dunno dont see a point in spending nothing and having to put alot more into a car u know?

Marsal, you stated that you were looking at models between 93 and 99. I just want to mention that in 1993 the car manufactures started the conversion from R-12 to R-134A refrigerate in the air conditioners. I would stay clear of a '93 model if it contains R-12 just because of the replacement cost of the refrigerate. I know that there are replacement refrigerants and conversion kits to change over to 134A but why take the chance.

I also would mention that I personally own a ’93 model which I bought brand new and still drive today. The only complaint I have and still have is that in the hot summer months the passengers that are in the back don’t get enough (any) air to cool them off.

Hmm, alright thanks Scooter for letting me know, the one that im looking at though actually the handfull im looking at are more around 94-99 , the 94 i belive i was talking about has the ABS issue, now i dunno if i should even bother looking any further into this car since it books for what he is selling it for, "With The Issue" and this car shopping is driving me :screwy: .

All i know is i do need a second car , to replace my truck and i need sumthing that my father *78* can get into and out of easily without any major problems and is easy for him to drive. The truck is alittle higher then id like and it's hard for him to get into the mpg for it is horrible so that's another reason why i need to get rid of it. So other then Bonne , i know this is just a Pontiac Forum but is there any other cars i should look into that are reliable, get good mpg , and are around $4000 ? the less i spend the more i have in my pocket so id like to spend less if possible.
