99 Tahoe Tranny clunking99 Mob Mobile 11-26-2007, 10:25 PM Well I Think this is really my last problem.. "I hope" I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe with 145k i do beleive the tranny was rebuilt around 120-130k When i put it in park and go from park to D or R or Any gear other than N its slow to go in.. it usually takes about almost 2 seconds..I was told by a friend somethings sticking but I have no idea what..the only reason why this is a problem is that sometimes if i stop and go to back up and i put it in reverse and turn to look behind me and i give it alittle bit of gas like I'm going to back up the engine will rev up cause its not had enough time to shift into R from either N D or 321 and it'll BANG and shake the car when it does go in..because its slow and it doesnt go in that fast..it'll do it if I'm in reverse and i go back to Drive..Unless i completly dont move and put my foot on the brake it wont bang... I'm by no means hard on it.. I get 18mpg i drive like an old man.. It doesnt matter if the tranny is cold warm or hot.. it shifts fine and makes no noises i had it flushed and the filter was changed.. I guess to sum it up the best i can its slow going into the gear you've selected for it. and if your not pateint enough to wait 2 seconds for it to go in it'll Bang if you touch the gas at all.. But it drives fine and nothing else bothers? What is it? leobags 12-05-2007, 09:35 PM hi i had a 96 tahoe and the same thing was happening, its you Neutral Control Switch its easy to change, it is located on the side of the transmission case i thinks its on the drivers side?
