crank pulleyrking828 11-24-2007, 09:14 PM has anyone changed crank pully with engine in car. if so what tools are needed and how much of a pain is it. any help would be appreciated TcmaBoy 11-26-2007, 10:03 PM You have to tear down the front of the car and remove the radiator to get to the pulley. You will need a 3/4 impact wrench, a TQ wrench, and a big puller. I again recommend that you get a used motor rather than rolling the dice on the crank or main bearings being damaged. Brian R. 11-29-2007, 02:26 PM I've been told that you can loosen the crank pulley bolt by placing a breaker bar/socket on it (with or without a cheater bar) so that the breaker/cheater bar rests either on the frame or the floor (to the driver side) and just nudging the starter. To remove the pully, you will have to remove enough stuff to allow access (clearance). silversup 12-01-2007, 07:56 PM Put the car in 3rd or 5th gear (forget which one did the trick for me), put the parking brake up. Have at long breaker bar ( i think the one i used is like 2 ft). Give it some oomph. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
