transmission questionrscamaroboy89 11-18-2007, 11:22 PM how can you tell if you have a munsie 4 speed? is there somewhere to run the numbers? my dad has one from a 396 chevelle he thinks, but wants to make sure. bobss396 11-19-2007, 06:50 AM http://www.5speeds.com/muncie2.htm This should help. I've used it to ID a couple of cases that I had. Bob rscamaroboy89 11-19-2007, 02:10 PM it must not be,cause the numbers are 3925656,the first few are right but not the whole thing. i found that it may be a saginaw 4 speed. bobss396 11-19-2007, 03:12 PM http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-manual-transmission-identification.php http://www.drivetrain.com/saginaw3_4sp.html Check these links, which should get you started. There's others if you want to de-code the whole works. Saginaws are ok for street usage, but for day to day beating on or use with a high HP motor, you're better off with the Muncie or T10. Make sure you KNOW what you have there. Loads of Vegas and other later compacts came with them in the 1970's. Bob rscamaroboy89 11-21-2007, 01:58 PM thanks for those sites. now i definantly know its a saginaw 4 speed. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
