I have a 2000 Gmc Savana with a 4.3l 4l60e transmission. It has 183,000 miles. I could really use some help. It runs fine nuetral and park, when you put it in gear the speedo jumps, as you start to drive it the speedo quits working and the abs light comes on, the van doesn't shift right and it shuts off while driving for approximatly 10 sec's, then it runs fine for abut 30 sec's it seems to get worse the hotter it gets. The fuel pressure and spark are good when this happens. There are no trouble codes in the computer, I changed the Vehicle speed sensor, the battery and cleaned all the grounds. I have been chasing down wires for hours with no luck. Also this may not be related the fuel gauge vibrates constantly. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to AF. Check for a bad ignition switch, monitor the current out of the ign switch to the primary circuits.

Do you think it can be soemthing in the tranny tail shaft or a wheel speed sensor? The speedometer jumps when going from rev. to drive. If you drive slow the speedo works up till about 25 mph. When the van dies I'm guessing it's around 40mph. It always dies at the same speed no matter how much gas you are giving it. When it dies the abs light comes on, once you slow down you can then proceed to dive again but the speedometer won't work until you go to a complete stop and start to drive again. Is there a gear in the tail shaft that he vss reads that could be bad? I also changed the tranny filter. I have not tested the ignition yet, I wanted to rule out the tranny before I took the column apart.

The speed sensor cannot cause the engine to shut off if I understand you correctly, there is a speed sensor in the trans that operates the speedo.

I changed the one in the tranny. I thought that maybe it's what sends the signal to the speed sensor. If the vehicle thinks it's going to fast it may shut off.
