Is thier any rear drum-to-disc brake swaps out there ?? Didnt realy want to pay out the waazzoo for something retail.... And I'm just not sure what year had disc's in the rear if any. thankx in advance for your help! J-Ri 11-18-2007, 05:34 PM When I converted my '86 to rear disc, I just removed all the drum stuff and put a spare front rotor on in it's place. From there I made a cardboard bracket to hold the caliper while I messed around with spacers to go on the flange. Once I was happy with the placement, I traced it onto 5/16" steel and cut it out. The recomended caliper was off an older Caddy (one that had disc brakes, just so there'd be a parking brake lever), but I used the same brake components as the front because I bought a parts truck for the axles, and had them available for free. Depending on your fabrication ability, you may just want to experiment like I did. If you aren't comfortable doing that, I know there are hundreds of conversion kits. The one for my truck was less than $100 (may not have come with rotors), but looked too weak for what i use my truck for so i just made my own. I'm trying to remember where I found it, but I'm drawing a blank. If I remmber where, I'll post the link. xeroinfinity 11-18-2007, 06:31 PM Thanks! I've already fabbed the caliper braket and I am using a set of the front calipers & rotors. Cardboards great for templets, I used 3/8" steal just for extra security. Still needs some fine tuning and painted but it should work way better then those stinking drums. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
