Introducing my selfjowilker 11-09-2007, 12:31 PM Hello Sirs & Mams, I am John Wilkerson from Creedmoor North Carolina. I am a 59 year old father of 4 and that bleeds Ford blue. I own two 97 Vulcan engine Taurus GLs and a couple 66 F100s. I am very active on one of the large Ford truck boards, but need help with the cars, so after I came upon this site, I thought I would poke my head through the door and say hello. I have several issues that I need help with, so I will get started. I was involved in a hit and run and had to replace one of my cars, so I bought one with a bad head gasket, and swapped my engine and tranny into that car. The tranny went out and the car sat for a year before I was able to get it going again. Battery died during that time and now when I start it up there is a clicking sound in the dash panel and the dome light blinks. This car came with what I thought was an after market alarm system, and wonder if the issue is in that system. I was afraid of being locked out so I stopped using the door lock clicker right after I bought the car and now have no idea where it might be. Anyone run across this or know how I might deal with it. thanks John shorod 11-09-2007, 02:46 PM Welcome to the forum! The description of the clicking sound and the interior light blinking sounds a lot like a bad connection at the battery. Do you have clean and tight battery cables? I assume you replaced the dead battery or at least charged it. Are the battery cables the molded type and ones with temporary ends on them? If not the molded OEM style, replace them with the molded version. I think what you're hearing and seeing is a voltage drop causing the lights to blink and the PCM relay to trip when you place a large load on the battery/charging system. -Rod jowilker 11-09-2007, 03:40 PM Hi Rod, Thanks for the welcome. I put a new battery in yesterday and it didn't help. Went out this afternoon to do some piddling on the car, looked under the dash and saw a couple fuses near the computer connector and I removed one of them. It stopped the clicking and blinking. I still think it has an after market security system that I am not comfortable with. thanks John vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
