Hey how's it going, I recently rolled my mitsubishi eclipse and went out and bought this amazing 96' golf gl 2.0. Problem is I bought it as is, the car starts and runs I've drove it. But the only way to start it is to touch the starter cilinoid with a screw driver to a ground so it turns over. If you try to turn the key to start it nothing happens. We might run a toggle switch to the inside of the car so when I need to start it put the key in hit the switch. But that is when we can't find any possible reason this is doing this. We checked the fuses undernieth the dash they all seem fine. What could be the problem, any suggestions. PLEASE HELP!

Thank you

Well I didn't feel like checking the wires so we wen't to starting the toggle switch to spark the cilinoid. Would any one have any ideas how to do this? We tried it but I don't think we were supposed to connect wires from the cilinoid to the battery then to the toggle switch. When we connected the battery back up the negative wire from the cilinoid to the battery burned up. Were lost, please help.
