Checking CEL

My wifes car is a '01 Cougar and she recently had the CEL come on. I personally have a '00 Civic and can check any CEL by jumpering a "service port" with a paper clip located by the ECU and it would flash the appropriate CEL sequence. Is there anything like this on a Cougar? Or am I just stuck taking it to an Autozone which is about 30 minutes away?

Youll have to scan it with an OBD-II scanner.
