1997 Plymouth Voyager airbag light?Krazy Jeff 10-31-2007, 04:50 AM I just got this van. Both the bags are torn out from the steering wheel and the passanger side. I do see the airbag light indicating a problem. My guess it's because the airbags are not there anymore. Wondering if I should ignore this airbag light or is there a way to turn it off momentarily? Also does anyone know what the cost would be to replace these airbags? I am also guessing that the steering wheel and the area above the glove compartment will need to be replaced, because they are torn up (I guess when the bags exploded in an impact.) Any advice or help is appreciated. Thanks. RIP 10-31-2007, 04:27 PM I've never priced them but I'd guess at least a grand. I would get an estimate from a body shop. They replace bags/dashes all the time. Might cut the cost with parts from a junkyard. EDIT -Sp Krazy Jeff 10-31-2007, 05:03 PM Okay, I'll look into it and if I find a shop, I'll report how much it was, hopefully to prepare the next person who needs this also. Thanks a million. dugan50 11-03-2007, 04:28 PM The answers you need regarding what to replace are available on our website. www.airbagsolutions.com (http://www.airbagsolutions.com). The airbag light will remain illuminated until the system is restored to working condition. This is so that anyone who drives the car will know the system will not protect them. As far as a cost goes, new airbags run abour $500 to $800 each and you may need a 'clockspring' if it melted for another $100. The dashboard top panel can be had new or used for $200-$700. Labor to install them all should run about $300 All of this depends on where you live, the prevailing labor rates & who does it. Good luck Krazy Jeff 11-03-2007, 05:49 PM Wow, putting everything together will run about $2700, they really need to come to a lower price for the air bags. Yeah they save lives, but damn, are they really that difficult to make them and install them? vipergg 11-03-2007, 08:47 PM Now you know why insurance is so high . Just think a lot of the new cars have a half dozen of the stupid things for the idiots who refuse to wear their seat belts . vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
