Slammed Ram D-50
10-30-2007, 08:14 PM
Im doin this build as sort of a quicky in-between build being that it will be simple and small and easy,
kind of a relief build to pump the moral up a bit :icon16:
But neway to the point its goin to be a frame layin D-50 (Mitzu mighty Max)with a kinda styling from
the earlier days of truck slammin (early 90's i suppose) Ragtop, shaved handles, billet everywhere,
billet grill, suicide doors, bags, etc.... on with some pics
Here you can see the doors cutout and the handles shaved, the doors will be suicide, unless i decide
to do one reg and one suicide, idk yet. Also you can see the cutout for the ragtop, the kit has an
included sunroof but its only thinned around the opening so u can have an option to put it in or not.
i cut out that and enlarged the hole somewhat more. and squared up the corners.
heres the interior bucket rough hacked out for the opening doors, i will be building door cards
the rim of choice was a simple chrome set from the heap of tuner kit rims in my rim box possibly the focus w/e.
a bed body line shaved along with fuel door.
This kit will need a little massaging all around due to AMT's classic flash :uhoh: and some low spots from molding process.
More to come soon~

still no replies in almost a month, nice lol
did a bunch of frame and bed work, on with the pics..
Here i started on the frame notches i tacked 4 scrap pieces of .040 with some
CA so i could cut em all together then separate n glue em.
Here they are cut
then separated, individually glued n then glued to the frame
stock shock mount bars removed
Spare tire support removed and notches braced
heres a shot of where the tanks are gonna go these are the rough tanks.
on the bed i cut off the stock wheel tubs and put a piece of .020 on top to make it smooth. still trimming to do.
Any Q&C's are welcome, let me know what you guys think!

Looking real good so far keep at it your on a roll man. I've never seen that kit before how old it it. On the flat bed your going to have to cut out the middle so the [C] chanel over the axel will fit? the air tank's look grate.

Thanks, yea the kit is from 1991, the box art shows some of the goofy "custom" those wheel arches n tonneau.
Yea the beds gettin cut but im putting it together first so i can mark it up easier. Also im gonna cut the frame under the notch nearly last so i dont break nethin :banghead:

Your on it man I'm going to watch this thing come together. Got to love that '90s style as for those wheels you picked there just right for your build I don't want to know the color your going to paint it I know your going to do some thing awsome. Now about your rag top I have done one my self here's an old pic:
Now if you want I can go a make one up an show you how I did it. Sorry the pix are not close to the sliding RagRoof.
Oh yea here's a pic of an air tank I made with a valve release:
The front view:
An the tank mounted:
So when it comes to your tanks they looked grate!!
here's a link to the build that the tank comes from.
I'm going to keep up with the build man an if you need any hint's on any thing I'm willing to help all I can.
Oh I forgot the photo-etch part's are from a 1/35 Dragon kit. Just some left over I had on hand. See I drive a Sim-mie truck or tracktor truck what ever you want to call it an on those type of trucks on the air tanks you have a valve release to let out water that builds up in the tank (Just if you wanted to know).

Thanks white_R34 I slammed a dually a while back too, want to do another.
That valve came out cool, As for mine these are aluminum tanks so theres not as big of a need for a moisture valve, but im goin to have an in-line moisture filter neway. i prolly wont show it though, to keep it clean n such
Made some more progress..
put the bed together minus the tailgate, so i can cut the notch opening
Heres the bed after i cut the floor, will be plated over later.
just a side preview shot
More progress has been made but my cam isnt co-operating with my pc right now :banghead: more to come soon!
