AHHHH!!!! Stupid PeopleTony 10-29-2007, 12:44 AM Finally get my hatch going again and getting a chance to put some money in it. Just got a set of projectors for it(good quality, planning on getting some HIDs as well), got a new bumper filler panel for it, and about to get a new bumper and fender for it. The other day when I was installing the headlights, I took the bumper off and noticed how nice the radiator was, not one bent fin on the thing. Well tonight on my way home from work, apparently someone lost their green plastic chair and left it in the middle of the damn road, legs pointing straight at traffic. I didn't see the damn thing in time and nailed it, was worried it just f*cked up my new headlights, so I pulled over to check the damage: Cracked the bumper(no big deal, getting a new one), headlights and other lights were ok....but my radiator is now a damn sprinkler! The leg managed to go through a hole in my bumper where I used to have fog lights and nail my radiator. I had just got the thing to stop leaking water from the hoses, and now I have a hole in the front of the radiator. Right now I don't have time to actually fix it, so I just poured some pepper in there while it was running to try and stop it up. Anyone happen to have another DA radiator laying around? :banghead: :banghead: Nick Gautreau 10-29-2007, 01:10 AM I never heard of pepper in the rad, but I've heard of eggs... why the transition? Tony 10-29-2007, 01:59 AM from me getting stuff for it to a hole in the damn radiator? Just me rambling because I'm upset about it....just figures though, when you get to start working on it, something happens and throws your plans off. Guess I might just go pick up a Koyo aluminum off of ebay or something. Nick Gautreau 10-29-2007, 02:16 AM happens to the best of us! Yea... I suggest an aluminium rad... just not from ebay... order it from a tuner or race shop somewheres FrodoGT 10-29-2007, 02:29 AM I had a fluidyne in my crx (god now that I think about it the parts on that car were nice) and i swear in the dead of summer I couldnt get that thing up to temp lol. In the winter Id sit almost to the bottom line on the highway. As long as it was hot enough to vtec I was happy. turtlecrxsi 10-29-2007, 10:56 AM That sucks. I remember I took a xanax (a small one) once for the hell of it and was cruising home and saw what I thought was a cardboard box in the road. Well, it was wood and put a nice hole in my bumper plastic (which was then cut out and cheap Autozone mesh was added with zip ties) and of course a nice hole in my stock radiator. Don't think I've had a xanax since (that was like 4 years ago or so)... BTW, Koyo Corporation USA is known for making ball bearing parts for transmissions in SC. Tony 10-29-2007, 11:26 AM lol, i think I'm leaning more through Mishimoto, seems to be good quality and they have badges on their radiators, not spray paint. Christ 10-29-2007, 12:01 PM mishimoto... sounds like mushimoto.. the japanese name for Falken... ya know.. "The treadmarks came back, seems they're from Mushimoto Ziex tires... same kind those damn street racers use... " lol... gotta love that movie for it's comic value.. BTW, if you dont' get that, it's not a direct quote, but it comes from The Fast and The Furious... a movie that is well hated among many "car guy" circles. turtlecrxsi 10-31-2007, 09:09 AM That white detective and the black FBI guy, Bilkins (in part 2 also) are actually pretty good actors. [/hijack] Christ 10-31-2007, 12:05 PM Yah, I can agree w/ that... the movie wasn't actually all that bad, just the simple shit in it about racing kinda pissed me off... Tony 10-31-2007, 01:57 PM bah, I got over it pretty quick....just watch it now to see what all cars I can pick out in the background :) I know this is o/t on my on thread, but anyone know how to get the damn oil cap to stop leaking? every damn motor I have ran, the damn oil cap leaks and it pisses me off. turtlecrxsi 10-31-2007, 02:16 PM That's weird. I've never heard of 710 leaking before  00accord44 10-31-2007, 09:56 PM ^  a plastic chair beasted your radiator? I can't think of a plastic chair I've ever seen that would imagine could do more than scuff my paint, even at speed. My theory is that somebody strategically placed that chair there for a chuckle. FrodoGT 10-31-2007, 10:19 PM Ive had a chair fly out of an open trailer while in a van right in front of us. We stopped before we hit it but it was so stupid, the damn chairs were just sitting upright in an open trailer, not tied down. 00accord44 10-31-2007, 10:27 PM During a road trip I took with my cousins and sister, I was driving along the highway in Albama at night and I noticed what seemed to be a metal bed frame sitting upright the long way in the middle of the left lane. Luckily I swerved out of the way just in time but I imagine that thing caused some serious damage to somebody's car. Then there was the time I was driving along and a matress flipped out of a truck bed, swooping right in front of my windshield. It felt like I was in Final Destination. FrodoGT 10-31-2007, 10:34 PM The geo that found that bed frame 20 mins later, Owned. Tony 11-01-2007, 12:44 AM Yea, I wouldn't have thought the car to do much damage, but like I said, the leg went through the hole in the bumper and hit the radiator. It didn't really do a ton of damage, just put a hole in one of the rows. FrodoGT 11-01-2007, 12:46 AM Radiators look solid but it takes almost nothing to shred through paper thin copper. Christ 11-01-2007, 01:47 AM @ oil cap, replace the rubber seal around it.. they make something in silicon that works nicely, you have to trim it tho... it's called a sink plug mat :D Tony 11-01-2007, 02:53 AM See, I thought there should be a rubber seal there...nothing on mine, just plastic against metal. And ordered a Mishimoto Del Sol radiator...figured might as well go half size incase I go with a turbo later. Still need a slightly used DA Radiator? Like brand new ;) I actually think the hole is easily fixable, I just don't want to do it. FrodoGT 11-01-2007, 03:17 AM Yeah there is supposed to be a rubber seal there. Do you know how much of a bitch it is to pull off a billet aluminum cap when you have no freaking rag and the block is hot?! Christ 11-01-2007, 11:44 AM Dude, I have an aluminum cap... I made it.. it's aluminum over a trimmed plastic cap. and you'd never tell the diff if I didn't tell you that. I'll find it one day and get a pic of it, it's stuck in my A1 valve cover. LadyNRedSi 11-01-2007, 12:07 PM www.radiatorbarn.com i've used them for years. i know you want "DA" (you fancy pants) however i know off the top of my head their civic/crx radiator runs $120 shipped with lifetime warrenty. by the time you find one used on the net + shipped = $100-ish...you might as well have bought the new. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
