Transmission won't shift into any gear

My daughters 1994 cavalier, 2.2L engine, automatic transmission suddenly stopped working.

The transmission won't shift into any gear including reverse.
This problem came on suddenly without any warning sighs such as the transmission slipping.

The transmission fluid is full but is light brown in color.

I'm thinking it might be the fluid pump.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

your daughter broke it last night when she accidently kicked the shifter when Jody was fucking her brains out after they went out to see Saw 4

no i'm just kidding, it actually sounds like a fluid pump problem....

Yes, it's sitting in her boyfriends parents driveway.
I plan on getting the transmission shop to tow it to the shop on Monday morning.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

check the shift cable first, it may have just come loose or something, if you see ANYTHING wrong with it then i'd bet thats most likely your problem

Jakegday, if the shift cable had come loose would the car still shift into park? The car will shift into park but will not shift into any other gear, also the fluid is light brown color, (not red).
I guess I'm going to have it towed to a transmission shop and have it checked out. I'm hoping it will just be a fluid pump and not have to be rebuilt.
I was hoping to get a few suggestions as to what may have caused this other than the fluid pump.

If anyone else has any ideas please post it on this forum.

Thanks
