Hybrid problem - died on the road

Hi: I am new to this forum, or any forum for that matter.

I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid. It has just over 32K miles. While driving I heard a beep and then the panel displayed "check hybrid system." I watched the speedometer go down and was able to pull off to the side. I needed to get towed to the Toyota dealer. They said they don't know what it is. The car just would not start at all.

Has this happened to anyone and how was it resolved? I read a few other posts and a suggestion was to visit another dealer after the writer had already visited two.

Thanks for any info you may have.

My husband had something similar happen with his 2005 Prius. His car died on the road. It was a software issue. The dealer was able to fix it. There was a service bulletin issued after the fact. Maybe you could check with another dealer or with Toyota's customer service center at 800-331-4331 to see if a service bulletin has gone out on this.
