RKE aftermarketCat Fuzz 10-26-2007, 01:01 AM I'm wanting to put a RKE and remote start on my 94. The problem is there is no door lock motor on the drivers side front. I'm trying to find out if I can get a door lock motor from another Rodeo from another door and bolt it in. Then it would attach properly to the linkage and then it's simply a matter of wiring up a couple relays and adding a lock/unlock switch. Do newer Rodeos have a lock/unlock button? If so, they must have a motor for the door lock on the drivers side that I could probably use. OR, I could use a door lock actuator from a Saturn that I saved. I just need to figure out a way to mount it and attach it to the existing linkage. Anyone have any ideas or information? pharm_rodeo 10-26-2007, 01:59 AM So you're saying you only have manual locks on the driver side? I guess I'm reading something incorrectly. I used to have an '88 Honda Crx and installed something like this (mine didn't have all the frills): http://cgi.ebay.com/2-DOOR-POWER-LOCK-CONV-KIT-w-2-KEYLESS-ENTRY-REMOTES_W0QQitemZ110182627930QQihZ001QQcategoryZ75 391QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It was cheap and easy. The hard part was finding a place for the actuator so everything moved smoothly. I wonder if you could find a newer wrecked Rodeo and just swap the internals. BUT that's a lot of wiring to deal with. :2cents: Cat Fuzz 10-26-2007, 02:12 AM I have power locks. They are actuated by the drivers door up/down lock button. When I lock and unlock the drivers door it does the same for the other three doors via a switch inside the door that is activated by the internal linkage. Cat Fuzz 10-27-2007, 11:55 AM Ok, you people with late 95's and 96's tell me about your power locks. You have a separate button, correct? Mine only actuate with the drivers pop-up button near the window. I'm thinking a 95 or 96 door lock motor and button should be able to be retro-fitted without much fuss. Can anyone take pics of their slightly later model drivers door? andrew_j 10-27-2007, 12:44 PM i can get a picture later but you are correct: there is a lock button on the fron driver side and passenger door that controls the locks jsut above the window switches Cat Fuzz 10-27-2007, 02:24 PM Ah, good! So there is a good chance that a drivers door lock actuator will bolt right into my door without any fuss. Then all I need is to install a button and a couple relays. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
