hi guys
ok i got a question about brake pads. i'd like to start changing my pads myself and before i start i'd like to have everything on hand first. I never took the tires off yet to see what kind of pads i need because i got to put everything back on if i did happen to get the wrong pads. SO i went to the parts store and they asked me if the pads had a hook or no hook..i said i dunno..never took the tires off yet..told them it was FWD and had drums in back..they asked me the same thing

has anyone done there brakes yet and can tell me what they have?

Hi Wolf,,,im in the same boat as you my friend.

I took my van to the dealer today, i need rotors and pads BAD.

i started talking to shops about the brakes and they asked the same questions you did.

The dealer mechanic told me that there is only one type of brake pad for the front disc brakes.

Try Auto Zone, when i called them on the phone i got the same questions youre telling me, but when i searched online, i only found one style.

It looks like there is some sort of clip that fits inside the drum housing of the piston.

hey Ian..i talked to the dealer parts dept and he asked me for VIN and still couldn't come straight out and tell me..he wanted my business of course so all he told me whereever your getting them from there the longer ones..he didn't even say hook or no hook..

looks like i'm just gonna have to take everything off and then check what i need then put everything back on and drive to the parts store again

Would it be feasible to get both type of pads and return incorrect ones??

Save you time of taking everything apart and putting back together twice.

ya know, never even thought of that temp..

was too busy thinking how hard these guys were making this out to be and getting more furious..even online they just ask FWD or AWD or front discs w/rear discs or front discs w/rear drums, nothing about no hook or hook

i may as well drop in to the parts store again and just pick up the other set

i went to OReilly's for my 05 and my 98, and the only questions I got were ceramic or not...the pads should be pretty standard. I guess I'm as confused as you are!!

ok for anyone who wants to know, the brake pads are the no hook style, there the shorter ones of the two kinds if some clerk doesn't cooperate with you

I did not see where you had done the brakes yet, but the important things are: (Use a manual for your model)
1. Always turn your rotars (Check them to ensure they are not warped or too thin)
2. Clean the rotar with a degreaser or they will squeek (most of the time).
3. Do not let the Caliper hang on its hose. If you do or did you better check it for cracks or cutting around the fittings. Use a wire or string to hang them up.
4. Always do just one wheel at a time. Makes it easy to see how to put it back together if you don't have a manual.

Keep your hands as clean as you can when putting it back together.

Have you had and HUB or ABS light problems?
