Sticky power sliding door - '03 Town & CountryFRANKENCAMRY 10-24-2007, 07:00 PM The passenger side power sliding door on our 2003 Town & Country has become sticky and very heavy to open and close by hand. It works OK when using the motor. I tried lubing the runners and wheels and the notched power belt with white lithium grease sray but it made no difference. Anyone have experience with this? dragon_kin01 10-24-2007, 07:17 PM the motor could have locker on it. being that kids cant open it by hand. if i work fine by the motor opening and closing it, dont worry about it just maintain the motor so the door wont be seized shut or open. wayneo69 10-24-2007, 07:58 PM yes it does need a motor FRANKENCAMRY 10-24-2007, 08:13 PM the motor could have locker on it. being that kids cant open it by hand. if i work fine by the motor opening and closing it, dont worry about it just maintain the motor so the door wont be seized shut or open. My concern is that whatever is sticking in the door mechanism is making the door motor work too hard and will eventually cause the motor to fail. Also, kids can open it by hand - its just way harder than the other sliding door yes it does need a motor The motor seems to be working fine. Would a failing door motor make the door hard to open by hand? dragon_kin01 10-25-2007, 01:58 AM yes a failing motor would make it hard o open by hand since the motor may be locking up willperk 11-24-2007, 12:11 AM The passenger side power sliding door on our 2003 Town & Country has become sticky and very heavy to open and close by hand. Below is a link to a thread titled "Stiff Power Door .....". The info posted in some of the msgs might be useful to solving your problem...... http://forum.chryslerminivan.net/showthread.php?t=4086 It's a long thread ...... pay special attention to post #s 26 & 29 on Pg. 3 and 31 on Pg. 4. -- willperk P.S.: 1. It's best not to lubricate the track the door support rollers travel in ...... wipe them down and keep the tracks and rollers clean. 2. Do lubricate the roller bearings on the door support arms with a good quality silicone lubricant, such as CRC ....... then wipe the overspray off the track(s). 3. The white lithium spray lube is fine for the rack & pinion underneath the door. 4. Lubricate the flex cable loom (underneath the door) lightly with a dry-type chain lubricant, available at most motorcycle/4-whlr stores/shops. Cntrysthbst 11-29-2007, 05:07 PM I have no ideal what this means but I did not see it in this thread, I email a dealer I normally buy from cause I was going to buy the clutches for both doors and this what he emailed me back with, Rob, It has been my experience that the problem with the minivan sliding doors is the loom in the lower part of the door. We change them all the time. The price for each loom is 105.60 plus shipping about 12.00. thanks Can anyone explain this? Thanks wayneo69 11-29-2007, 08:11 PM hey i work for a dodge dealer and somebody just blew smoke up you ass. the door works with the remote and the interior buttons so the plastic chain [with the wires in it ] means the that no wires are broke inside it {which can be repaired] and thats not your problem you must have gotten a hold of a damn service writer that has no clue what is going on he knows he sells alot of them because the wires breake and his techs aren't smart enough to realize they get paid more to repair the wires then 3 tenths to replace the chain/wire assy. but anyway the motor is your problem it is not fully releasing creating the drag/hard to open and shut replace the motor like i told you before you will be saticfied with the results but not the price. i do these doors alot and have experanced just about every problem imanageable. i may not be a good typer or speller buti sure can fx a dodge chrysler jeep wayneo69 11-29-2007, 08:16 PM it takes me about 5 or 10 minutes to replace you not ever doing it about30 minutes not hard to do at all pull open the bottom part of door panel and there is your motor Cntrysthbst 11-29-2007, 09:25 PM think that's the last time I buy something from them. that would have been a waste of money. thanks for clearing that up. FRANKENCAMRY 02-17-2008, 11:30 PM Finally got around to following the repair steps pointed to earlier in this thread... removing the door motor, cleaning it, and reversing the metal clutch plate. Now the door opens freely by hand. The hardest part is getting the door trim off - especially if you've never done it before. Took some pics which I would post but I don't have rights. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
